So we lost the match due to defensive error correct? That is why Stimac is saying our defense needs work. He is trying different players and trying to see who would be best. Who else in your opinion could be a good defensive player to be tried out? The players who ever gets the opportunity should learn quick and avoid making/repeating the same mistakes.
Regarding offense, I think Soosairaj and few other youngers are in the list of players to be tried out soon. They will get their chance very soon. The team needs to find a supporting cast or replacement for Sunil very soon.
India played decent considering that two forced substitutes were made early due to injuries and that the referee was probably offered a job in some oil field of theirs.
But in the Second half, Oman were respecting us too much and were playing deep but inspite of that we hardly created any chances and most of players (Farukh, Ashique, Udanta) would just fall and we were only dependent on set pieces.
Stimac needs to sort out the attack but overall not a bad (yet not a good) performance
Chettri is done at this level and with him are gone our goal scoring exploits as well. It's better to play the extra defensive midfielder and look to protect the defence. Anyways set pieces are our only goalscoring opportunities, so plan for that and keeping clean sheets
India NT is the test bench for new player. NT not playing friendly match against any team to surprise the team in qualifiers.They only speak to play beautiful passing football. I hope this was not turned out to be Koeverman era.
