I hope from next season ISL will have more games and only weekend gameweeks. They can do what a-League does instead of Home and Away each team will play Home, Away, Home. Randomly pick the teams to host the third Home fixture. That will at least give players 30 games per ISL season and if they schedule Cup tournament in between than it could go up to 40 games per season for the players.
Well @Snep you know FSDL are avoiding hosting 30 games as per AFC norms by citing covid and bubble again. If their model was so effective. Why did they not increase duration? They never will. For them it's all about money. They don't want football to go beyond this window.
Sounds good on paper! Even Reliance with all their might couldnt get a broadcaster for ISL who would actually pay any decent money. And cant blame the broadcasters, unless the NT performs well, overall enthusiasm for football will be negligible in India. STAR was brought in out of compulsion and not choice.
IPL and Pro Kabaddi League are the only two profitable entities in India for any Broadcaster
Other then that, interest is negligible. Indian Football has not reached that level yet
In Junior Hockey World Cup which is starting in few days, Star has refused to broadcast Pool Games. FIH App will show Pool Games including 3 India Games.
How can pro kabbadi have a bigger audience than ISL? Does not make sense
Kabbadi is mostly followed game in states like U.P, Haryana, Punjab , Andhra, Telangana & Tamil Nadu. If I'm not wrong, even states like Maharashtra, Karnataka & Kerala should be following Kabbadi.
If we club population of all these states, it covers around 50% of Indian population (UP alone 16%).
Even Hockey & Badminton leagues will not match Pro Kabbadi League viewership.
