Playing in Bangladesh league affected them. Even Dorielton plays worse than some local league foreginers.

The I-league continues to throw up surprises!

Earlier, Churchill Brothers failed to consolidate their position at the top when they were held to a draw against bottom placed Delhi FC two days ago.

Today Namdhari FC failed to catch up with Churchill Brothers when they drew 2-2 with Dempo SC

Churchill Brothers continue to hold to the top spot followed by Namdhari and Inter Kashi
Its nice to see the league teams going up and down. But I am severely disappointed in terms of consistency and commitment from players. Nobody is giving their all in all the games. Even ISL has this problem but I-League is on a league of it's own these days. I won't blame the foreign recruitment, IMO we have improved there but the domestic levels are so bad even comparing to the NFL days.

I-League: Inter Kashi awarded three points after Namdhari field suspended player

The I-League outfit Inter Kashi were awarded three points and a +3 goal difference, on Monday, after a successful appeal against Namdhari FC.

The situation stems from Namdhari fielding a suspended player during their match against Inter Kashi last month. Namdhari won the match 2-0.

Inter Kashi filed an appeal against the same and the result has now been reversed.

Namdhari were docked their three points and it was instead handed to Inter Kashi. The latter were also given a +3 goal difference, as per the rules.

This development has thrown the 2024-25 I League title race wide open.

Inter Kashi, who were placed fourth in the standings with 28 points, have now climbed up to the second spot with 28 points. They trail the toppers Churchill Brothers by just a solitary point and have a match to spare.

Namdhari, meanwhile, went from the second spot in the table with 26 points to fifth in the table with 23 points.

This is amateur stuff! Too bad their lack of professionalism cost them a shot at league. All is fair for Inter Kashi.

From Inter Kashi, Arata Izumi seems to be the best assistant Indian coach to emerge this season. A lot of creative forward play and pressing which are not known for a typical Habas side. My belief is it shows that the coach is either adapting to the players at disposal or Izumi is doing great work. Right from the RFDL he has been impressive, I hope some I-League clubs take a chance on him with a good long term project.

We need more Indian coaches in I-League and if they have proven credentials they will get opportunities in ISL. A coach also needs games to improve himself, that is not happening for him right now. It is one thing to be an assistant, but if you remain an assistant for far too long then nobody will believe in you. It is very rare. Clifford showed good signs when he was at FC Goa and even was good as an interim coach in terms of results but went back to being an assistant and was never seen again.

I League 2024-25: AIFF hands Churchill Brothers 0-3 forfeit for fielding ineligible player against Aizawl FC

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee on Thursday handed I League side Churchill Brothers FC Goa a 0-3 forfeit for fielding an ineligible player during its match against Aizawl FC.

The match which was played on February 17 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Mizoram ended in a 1-1 draw.

However, the federation decided to hand Aizawl all three points after Churchill Brothers was found to be “in breach of Article 6.5.6 and 6.6.6 of the I-League 2024-25 Regulations, for fielding an ineligible player.”

“The said match shall result in a forfeiture (0-3 loss) for Churchill Brothers FC Goa in accordance with Article 57 read with Article 26 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code,” it added in a statement.

Despite the punishment, Churchill remains second in the table with 28 points from 16 games, three behind leader Inter Kashi which has played the same number of games.

Earlier this week, Namdhari FC was docked three points by the AIFF for a similar violation in its match against Inter Kashi on January 13.
