Isn't there one time country swap rule in FIFA? We can have Harmeet Singh too if our Govt allows PIOs....they are thinking about this matter is a hope for us.
FIFA rules are clear that the player need a passport of that country in order to represent that country. Not only Football, that is required in all Olympic Sports disciplines. Even if he has oci card and indian government says yes he can play for india team, he will still be ineligible unless he has Indian passport.
Every NRI case is different depending on their backgrounds. In his case, he has never lived in India, he was never Indian citizen before, his father is a sikh guy who came to Britain more then 50 years ago. His father was indian citizen or not? Many Briitish sikhs came to Britain from Africa and other British colonies. i doubt if this guy Danny even got oci card !!!!
Such people do not want to live in India, has never lived before also and does not wish to leave Foreign citizenship. . Indian Constitution does not allow Dual Nationality. FIFA does not allow you to represent without that country passport.
Constitution amendment is not that easy, many complications are there.
Ask him to follow Izumi Arata path.
If he is eligible for OCI card, wait 5 years on OCI card status and live atleast 1 year in India. Then he can become Indian Citizen but he will have to leave British Citizenship. He is not even living here, thats a joke.
