According to this (well sourced) he is currently in the United States playing college soccer in a non NCAA D1 school. Chances of becoming a pro here in MLS... slim. Chances of becoming a pro... still pretty good. There have been many players in MLS and the NASL who have started in the non NCAA leagues and moved on to the NCAA and then MLS.
His background is pretty good in football but looking at the facts... I doubt he came to the states looking to become a pro footballer (soccer player).
Surprised no one has posted this yet. Really nice story and I think we should all hope he makes it. This does seem legit so lets see how this pans out. If it does not work out then there is always I-League
@Ronny Does this mean Thailand will become stronger and India won't be able to beat them? Truly shocking news!!!! Now european football culture will come and refine thai football.
India's Corporate Sector and wealthy Indians are the only people who can save Indian football. AIFF babus and other sports agencies in India are only interested in corruption. Pathetic state of affairs really!!!! I think majority of football fans in India should discuss this issue thoroughly and find some solution to this problem. I am a little bit sceptical about AIFF's Indian Super League's money making initiative and quality it will bring in India.
Stabaek is not doing bad this team, they are coached by the former US national team coach and so far he has led them to 4th place out of 16 in his first season. Their #1 seems to be a 20-year old Ivorian with the other 2 backups being relativly in-experienced.
For Gurpreet this may actually turn out to be a good move if it does happen.
