HAL Vs Air india - Review

    The moment of madness

with HAL defending well, AI running out of ideas, there was a foul committed on near right corner of HAL's goal on an AI player. HAL goalie Pramod started shouting a lot at his defenders to organise the defence and he was showing a lot of displeasure. Manjit Singh (not Manandeep singh as reported by AIFF website, I have later talked to manandeep and he also confirmed that it was Manjit Singh) took the kick, it was a loping free kick, straight at goal, which normally u will say a bad free kick. I dont know maybe Pramod lost concentration and all, he just missed the line and the ball went inside the net. And the crowd looked perplexed. now the defenders were giving dirty looks at Pramod, the crowd taunting him. Some started to shout at the coach, till the end!!! Pramod was depressed, he knew his mistake took the game away.

However, that totally changed the game. HAL lost confidence, team spirit was down. AI started to play a wonderful spirited game. AI brought in Sandesh Gadkari in place of Manandeep. Sandesh, a tall striker created a lot of problems for HAL. henry Ezeh played his heart out. Fantastic commitment, running for every ball, maybe not very skillful but did a great job in putting pressure. And Pramod was totally down at that moment. HAL eventually brought in RC Prakash and strangely but rightly changed the goalie as he was unable to recover from that goal and was looking very nervous. Amar Deb replaced him.

But HAL were totally outplayed by then they cudnt create anything substantial and looked like they will concede every moment AI attacked. Eventually AI took the lead when a corner flew in and bounced inside the box with 3 AI players free to take the shot. Henry Ezeh too the shot, which hit HAL player Kartick just in front of the goaline and went inside. The same happened again, same corner, similar shot, this time Kartick took an acrobatic shot just in front of the goaline to keep HAL in the business.

with HAL trying to attack, they created too many holes in defence, allwing AI to get inside, Amar Deb made couple of fantastic saves. At the end Sandesh Gadkari scored a goal, he was always looking like to score. It was a comic goal, AI player took a shot, blocked by HAL defence, who tried to clear it but blocked by HAL defence themselves! Then the HAL defender, Charandeep, tried to shoot it out but could not shoot it over Sandesh's head and went directly at his feet. gift!!!!!

    Crowd

Crowd was less than 2K, I think sud be between 1-2K. Howver, crowd became very angry after the way HAL let AI equalise and then take away the game. Abuses were hurled at the coach, throughout the 2nd half. Many lamented that bangalore's only club will relegate. It went so bad that a guy hurled a big stone towards HAL box, the match had to stopped to take that out. A police officer also came to calm the crowd, only to listen to the abuses.
The crowd started to call RC Prakash, asking him to play (he was a sub, later went in too). RC smiled at the crowd and said that tell it to the coach!!!! Clearly team spirit is lacking in the HAL camp.

    Bottomline

From a neutral point of view (which was not there in my case), it was an enjoyable match, 6 goals, drama, fight back, attacking stuff. Air India clearly has a fantastic team spirit, lots of youth players, good to see Santosh Kashyap keeping Bimal Ghosh's legacy intact. Players like Allan, Sandesh, Manandeep, Sandeep, Collin are showing there worth out there. HAL looks like that they will relegate, there forward line is extremely week, and the team spirit is lacking. Now the crowd is also taunting them, expecting a less crowd in subsequent matches.

Indian Players to keep track -
    HAL - Malem, Vinoth
    AI - Colin, Manandeep, Sandesh

does rc prakash really said that???then that is bit funny to hear that a player is answering from dug out for the fans views.....
and main thing is that it is good to see that public here are passionate about their team and want them to really do well irrespective of the fact that the club is doing least to attract fans....
