it is too early to predict the relegation now...but i would say hal 99%
otherwise CUM, MFC, Shillong, Sal will be the team which gotta pull their socks to get out of this danger position.....shillong is really struggling in recent times and i am shocked to see the defending champs in bottom half
In the perspective of the non-Indian Football fan... well Pailan Arrows are in the relegation zone so it will be HAL and Pailan.
But really in my opinion I see HAL SC and Chirag United Kerala going down. Mumbai FC has a history of pulling itself up and Shillong Lajong is just going through a bit of a rough patch. They will come back from it. And we all know Salgaocar can't get relegated any time soon even though I would not mind that.

Arrows won't be relegated by AIFF.
So, HAL definitely going down. The other spot will have a big fight.

I know about Pailan. I was saying from a non-Indian Football follower perspective.
Anyway it will be HAL (4-0 to Mumbai. Sad) And the other will be Chirag United. Look at there last 4 games in April... Pune FC, Churchill Brothers SC, Salgaocar SC, and East Bengal FC. They will lose all 4 and get relegated.
Average points tally in I-league for past 4 seasons :
Champions 54 points , Dempo, East Bengal & Churchill are all half way to that points total at the half way stage. The Champions will certainly come from one of these 3 teams.
As for the relegation , the Average points needed to avoid relegation are above 24 POINTS
but with the addition of the Arrows to skew the figures
Teams might need above 26 to survive the drop this season.
HAL would need to average 2 points per game to avoid the drop in the 2nd Leg !!
( that's a win & draw sequence for every two games !! )
Chirag Kerela would need to average almost 1.5 points per game in the 2nd Leg
( they need to win every other game )
Mumbai FC, Sporting Club de Goa, & then Salgaocar , Shillong Lajong need 5 & 4 wins respectively to assure themselves another year in the top division.
Today's game ares crucial to the final relegation battle.
As head to head is the 1st criteria:
Salgaocar vs Shillong Lajong
Mumbai FC vs Chirag United Kerela
HAL vs Sporting Club de Goa
All these games are effectively "6 point" games.
Due to the strange schedule where the 2nd leg begins with match # 21out of 26 games, the relegation places could be confirmed by that point in the season.

<!-- s:bow-plusone: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/bow/plusone.gif" alt=":bow-plusone:" title="PlusOne" /><!-- s:bow-plusone: --> good analysis ....but have to say the relegation battle is not that interesting as in the last couple of seasons or so.....but the championship battle is so far been interesting to follow....
the win for CUK makes it a bit of four way relegation battle with HAL- the favourite to be at the bottom of the table with cuk, scg and mfc pulling each others down to the next spot....
interestingly scg is playing the way HAL were playing in last season...initial wins followed by a dip in form in the middle stage....
I wish HAL and Arrows are relegated,Sorry to say but I hate this Arrows thing in I-League despite its talent development it offers nothing to the league in terms of finance or fanfare.

there was never gonna be any fan support for arrows in kolkatta as they already have better teams who have huge fan base and performing much better than their previous edition and also the inclusion of jct left-outs have just spoiled their basic idea of nurturing talents ,,,...
as far as finance goes, except the kolkatta clubs and may be pune, rest could hardly get even 1/4th of the money they put...so there is no scope for profit in the current club scenario as they hardly even know how to run a commercial football club.....

"Current Club scenario" man dont talk about it,going that way I would wish that all I-League clubs are relegated. They are just too slow in improving themselves which really puts Indian football backwards.
