@ronny<div><br></div><div>don't say that ,we saw in past and now also that our junior player fared a lot better than NT.....we r matching asian giants in age group..but then our player used to lost ..they r not properly groomed...if junior team has ranking india could be in say 60-80 ranks...</div>
The difference is the training the current youth receive and also the amount of Academies outside it. Many players at the youth level tend to recede.<div><br></div><div>I know that the England FA and the United States FA have operated U14/U15 sides for years now and so far, out of the usual 18-man teams (out of a camp of like 60-80), only around 10-25 players make it professionally and like at least 5 can make it as an international.</div><div><br></div><div>So for our current U16/U19 sides, the chances of all of them being pros is small. Many will fade away slowly while others will excel to the next level.</div><div><br></div><div>Again, going back to the first paragraph, why we need more Academies because we can't just rely on the AIFF-FIFA Academies to provide use the next generation. We need more Academies and we should be able to rank each Academy have them participate in official AIFF competitions which they are required to play in. These tournaments need to be longer as well. Also specific Academy rules need to be set. Each Academy coach depending on what rank the Academy is should have a specific license from the AFC. Ground conditions need to be set. In-State player quotas are needed as well.</div><div><br></div><div>If we are to increase our level of play through youth we really need to work on this. Instead of arguing about the I-League/IMG-League problem we should focusing on the youth development and be working on how to invest in it. Till then be prepared to see India stay around where we are at.</div>
For example in small Punjab village academies there are hockey astro turf nowadays. It is a simple mathematics, if more people play it, there will be more talent
<br><br>North East part of India has same frenzy for football as Punjab or Coorg has for Hockey. More effort is required to tap into talent there.<br>There is one difference-Hockey is a better career. Hockey players get good officer level government jobs in Railways, Police, oil companies, Banks. <br>In Football, clubs have now started to pay huge salaries. Once money grows, more parents will start sending their kids to academies. <br>
