I dont think that munna believes it is harm but that he is surprised. Hockey was almost instinct in India and the World Series Hockey and the Commonwealth Games have brought it back.
Now we have the Hockey India League and hopefully as time moves on Hockey will be fully revived in India and become a top sport (along with cricket and football).
I honestly dont think that. Indian football does not need the World Cup or Asian Cup to make it. Keep this in mind, the IPL is only a 2-3 month event.... the other months have nothing going on. We need to take advantage of that. India does not have any long-season popular sports leagues and football could be the start of them.
If u ask 11 current player name from indian futbal and hockey team most f indian wil fail to name it...so marketin is very important...and if india make in wc ..u wil see sudden shift of breeze
First of all, we are never going to make the World Cup until we embrace the sport so hoping for the boom to happen AFTER we make it is not right.
Right now we need to focus on how the game is marketed and how the I-League can be better packaged to the Indian audiance. Right now our only competition really is European football. The Indian cricket team will play a few times a month while the other Indian leagues are only a few months long... European football is on the day an I-League match is on and usually around the same time. Until we can make the I-League look better we will never get the attention we deserve.
