Indira Gandhi indoor stadium being converted into permanent convention center with permanent stage.
The excuse is also very funny. Stadium is not used after Commonwealth Games. and SAI can benefit if they can manage the stage for Cultural programmes.
Will this be the end of this stadium as a sports venue? Permanent structures are built inside.

Damn... can we not just do a dual-indoor complex?

  • Yeah. Permanent structures will destroy it as a sports venue.

Not sure if this would be welcomed here but I am watching the NFL right now (American football) between my Giants and the Dallas Cowboys and honestly, I've tried to give it a chance but other than the game being a nice topic of discussion among friends, a time waster while doing work (background noise etc), and somewhat fun with the fantasy teams, the sport just does not appeal to me.

Me and my roommate failed to find the channel the game was on cause every time we went to the channel, there was a commercial on. Every 5 seconds there would be a play and then, bam, a commercial. The fans are great but you can just tell how this sport is the number 1 thing in America and it is not based on the actual gameplay of the sport at all. You have the commercials which broadcasters and corporates know they can show for 3-5 hours of their product, you have the Americanism to the sport with the previews and video montages featuring girls in patriotic/short outfits and a famous country singer singing something about "Sunday night football on NBC... come on down America!" and you have your typical NFL coach who basically looks like, and sounds like, your typical American middle-class grown man or translated, a grown-man who tries to act "tough and intimidating" ("Ya man, I am watching this game while working out bro, gotta jack up now.")

And I have also tried keeping an eye out for the things people on soccer forums say to defend American football, how tactical it is, how hard hitting it can be etc. I have seen harder hits in rugby and Aussie football, and I have looked at the "tactical side" of the game but I can barely see it, and I have played American football before and I know the rules well. I see tactical directions better in football and they change plenty of times through-out the 90 minutes.

Sorry about the rant, it is a sport that just does not appeal to me and honestly, I don't know why it does to people in the US... on a sporting level.

    Hingis-Sania win Women's Doubles.
I personally feel Hingis should have got Khel Ratna instead of Sania.
Sania is like the Jwala Gutta of Tennis.A bit too overated just like Jwala.
In Badminton, where Ashwini is much much the better player but underrated. Similarly Hingis is the one who is holding the team together.
The irony however is that ,Sania is a Khel Ratna whereas Mahesh Bhupati is not ( can u believe that)

Sania and Jwala(Most overated female sports athlete)
No Doubt that they are good but they are not world-class as people generally think they are.

Trust me those who have seen Ashwini and Jwala play would agree with me and feel bad for Ashwini as if India could produce a half decent Women's Doubles player for Ashwini and half decent Men's Doubles Mixed Doubles player for Ashwini than it can almost guarantee 2 medals for India in global events with Ashwini at the forefront.
