That will be stupid...say for example Mumbai Indians have spent loads of money to establish their brand name now to pay again to keep that will be crazy.. also this would mean there is no resale value for the franchise because it is more like lease..
As for the Olympics top 6 shd be the minimum which we should be targeting. If you look at the teams which have qualified and the format then top 6 is a real possibility and if results go our way semi-finals is a genuine possibility. Let's see how? In Olympics 2 pools of 6 teams are there. Now to finish in top 6 we must finish at least 3rd in our group as top 2 from each pool qualify for semi-finals.3rd place teams play for 5th and 6 the.4th place teams play for 7th and 8th. Now out of twelve teams qualified India should beat 3 teams even on a bad day. These teams are:- 1)Canada 2)Brazil 3)Ireland If we get lucky and 2 out of these teams are in our group then it means India would be finishing minimum 4th in their group(considering India will beat both teams)6 points earned Now coming to other teams.I personally feel India is also better than Spain and Newzealand.Similarly, splitting these teams in both groups will mean India should finish with 9 points( considering India will beat this team) Now moving on,the remaining 7 teams which are:- 1)Australia 2)Holland 3)Germany 4)Belgium 5)Gbr 6)India 7)Argentina Now,if Australia and Holland are in different groups than out of the remaining teams that are :- Belgium,GBR,Argentina and Germany,if we can beat or draw with any of these teams( these teams are 50:50) this we would finish with 10-12 points thus increasing our chances of a possible Semi-finals and minimum 3rd place in the group thereby ensuring top 6 place. I genuinely feel India is better than Germany (standard has decreased) and GBR. Also equivalent to Belgium and Argentina (with these teams on that day matters) and India is one level less than Australia and Holland. So top 6 is genuine possibility and if we are lucky we can enter the semi-finals. Btw top 6 would be India's best position since 1992 Olympics.
I have observed Ireland team for a while now and trust me they are good enough to spank us if we have a bad day..in Olympics dont rule out Germany,GBR and even New zealand..we all know how umpiring results go against us in these tournaments..at the moment anything beloe 7-8 wud be a disapointment
The first match sets the tone for India in the tournament. Ever since I started watching Hockey, always India first game is either against Holland or Germany and that first loss makes it difficult to recover. Hopefully this time we see weak links like Brazil, Canada. Ireland is similar to Great Britain, Belgium now. Argentina will reach atleast semi-Finals as its their continent. Australia is always top contender. It is upto other teams to dislodge Holland, Germany from Semi-Final positions. I will be happy with 6th Position for Men's Team and 10th position for Women's Team.
@shankar, The IPL franchisees were allotted for a period of 10 years and there has to be a new bidding for the next 10 years. If not, the existing franchisees will be asked to increase their annual fees as per the current valuation.
BCCI are not idiots to allow the same old price for the next 10 years. As of now, all 8 franchisees are very much in profits.
Mustafa Ghouse of BFC connects with Wrestling stars of India. JSW is doing well in expanding their Sports empire beyond Football. I would like to see them bidding for HIL Bangalore Franchise also.
Pro Kabaddi league will be the NBA for kabaddi... HIL is nowhere near the format followed in europe (Euro Hockey League) where they have a more established league ran around year...
also EPL could be given tough time by La-liga or Bundesliga.. nothing is near the level of NBA.. if you want to point at one league as pinnacle in any sport you shall say NBA

I don't think it will be the case in IPL
