India will travel to Nur-Sultan to take on Pakistan in the upcoming Davis Cup tie as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has nominated the Kazakhstan capital to host the matches, ending days of uncertainty over the venue.
As I said, lot of politics is going on in Davis Cup.
First of all India - Pakistan tension. Then as Pakistan is the hosts, ITF has moved the Tie out of Pakiustan despite them protesting. Now their top player Aisam -Ul-Haq Qureshi , who has partnered Rohan Bopanna in the past, has pulled out saying that this move is insult to the country. They might not come and play.
From India side, politics is going on in team selection. New Captain Rohit Rajpal is also a BJP politician. His claim to fame is that once he has played in Davis Cup.
So Mahesh Bhupati was removed from captain position on a flimsy excuse that he does not want to go to Pakistan which he has denied.
Infact Bhupati has released a Press statement that he is still the Captain.
When Bopanna objected to removal of bhupati, he was asked to shut up. As a result, Bopanna has pulled out of the squad citing shoulder injury.
As Leander Paes is close to Khanna lobby and BJP, he has returned back to the team.
Anand Amritraj wanted to return as captain but AITA was not interested.
This will not end here only. 3 or 4 other Tennis players in the India squad are contemplating a no show at Kazakhstan as they are close to Bhupati faction.
But its risky to play in Pakistan, spacial this year as its full of tension, we can never trust Pakistani security there can be Pakistani army planned Terrorist attack
