Whoa! Never in my dreams did I imagine this scoreline for the match! We could have pumped in more..looks like there were changes made early in the 2nd half to rest some players/test the bench

TASHKENT: A gentle tap on the shoulder caught me a bit off-guarded almost immediately after the kick-off. “Hello, my friend,” the elderly statesman smiled friendly. “How is everyone back home?” he queried. I stared at him and went on staring -- a bit in disbelief; more in respect.
Rustam Akramov!
“I’m here to watch India play. I have some urgent work but I will manage to catch at least one half,” he went on. Even before he finished striker Uttam Rai had scored India’s first goal against Krygyzstan in India’s AFC U-16 Qualifier opener. And even before he could gaze through India’s Team List to find out more details, Daniel Lalhlimpuia had scored India’s second.
Rustam Akramov nodded. The future of Indian football, he was convinced, stays bright.
A new Championship! A new beginning! A new set of boys!
Be it the AFC U-16 Qualifiers, a Tournament away from the cynosure of all eyes; be it a leg which everyone loves to dismiss as an inconsequential one; or be it a the general perception which believes Indian boys at this level are just not good enough. Never Mind. Football in the World is monitored by the Youth Development Programmes and the YDP in India has started to promise much.
India began their Campaign in the AFC U-16 Qualifiers in style as they outplayed Krygyzstan 7-0 in their first match at the Transportation Institute Stadium, the home ground of Uzbektsian’s Famous Club, FK Lokomotiv.
Even before the half-time whistle, Uttam Rai had completed his hat-trick as he went on to score five in the match while Daniel’s brace completed the rout.
“This is an excellent set of boys,” Akramov certified. “They complement each other in midfield and defence. The two strikers change their positions and there’s positive play overall.”
“Results at this stage hardly matters. But I tell you, these Indian boys belong to a different generation,” Akramov waved prior to leaving at the interval. “I’ll be back for the next match,” he promised.
For a team which has trained at the IMG Academy in Florida and then under the watchful eyes of Youth Development Head Coach Colm Toal in Goa, the start in the Championship mattered much. Enjoying a five-goal cushion at the interval, Coach Thomas Joseph could afford to bring on his substitutes in the second half, even after which the boys did break free a number of times.
Thomas didn’t do gaga over the victory. “We can’t be complacent. The Championship has just started for us. We need to focus on our next match,” he maintained.
India next play Bahrain on Monday, October 3. The kick-off is slated for 4pm (IST: 4.30pm).
The other match of the day between Bahrain and Tajikistan ended in a 2-2 draw.
Daniel must be the guy on extreme left in the first line. <!-- s:clap: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa/clap.gif" alt=":clap:" title="Clap" /><!-- s:clap: -->
