he scouted indian team well as he knew india was the unknown package of the group
  • Hey I know this should not be here but is it suspicious that our under-16s come form schools and state teams but not the I-League under-16 teams like Pune or Salgaocar.

That's the sole reason why they don't develop further. If you look at teams like Uzbekistan or Japan their youth players are taken care by clubs, but here in India players have to fight it out for a place in TFA or play in some local amateur club.

Well hopefully that will change because clubs are starting to nurture the young. Like Pune and Salgaocar.

Also if the AIFF continue with the I-League U19 and maybe revamp it a little we will see more players come from I-League clubs and compete.

AIFF is planning to develop 5-8 Youth Academies in coming years but they have to make sure there are atleast 20-25 fully professional clubs with Youth Development System in place so that these players don't go waste after graduating from there.

may be mumbai dont possess top academies, but most of top teams, including the likes of mumbai fc, air india, kenkre, pifa colaba fc, have their youth teams like u19,u16.......the only problem with these clubs are that they dont have a league of their own, because may be they are growing in good way playing against good teams of mumbai,....but a age group league for them in district level and in national league would make them better team...

all img players are likely to return back to US for continuing their training in florida....:)
this one is heard directly from the striker uttam rai in fb..
now this is a good news as we all were concerned about what next for these players after returning from US and qualifying....it is good that they will be continuing the training.... <!-- s:handgestures-thumbup: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/handgestures/thumbup.gif" alt=":handgestures-thumbup:" title="Thumb Up" /><!-- s:handgestures-thumbup: -->

    Supratim Practicing

Q.6. At this young age there is bound to be a dream, what is yours? Which club would you like to play for?

Supratim: First of all I would be loved to know a good footballer and even a better person. One day I dream of playing for the Red Devils-Manchester United.

Q.7. What made you choose Goalkeeping ahead of so many other options? Were you focused only on goalkeeping when you started playing football?

    The India U-16 team

Q.8. Share your experience about the 2012 AFC U16 Championship qualifiers. How did it feel when the team qualified for the main draw?

Supratim: That was a real tough competition, playing four matches in six days is really really tough task but still we played good and i really don't want to talk about the Uzbekistan match and please, dont ask me any question about uzbekistan match..because near about 10000 people had asked me that about that match. I would say we played very very very good and we will give our best in our next matches.

    IMG Academy, Florida, USA

Q.9. How was the experience when you along with your fellow teammates were given the opportunity to train in IMG Academy in Florida?

Supratim: Its very different than India. The infrastructure is way better but in the same time I won't say that that the infrastructure in our country is poor. But then again, the level of training and the tips and tricks they make us learn are just awesome.

Q.10. When do you see yourself wearing the national team's jersey?

Supratim: May be in the next four to five years. Whenever I practice, before matches(all type of matches...small and big) and when i play the feel of playing for your country aggravates. I feel proud that I am an Indian.

Q.11. Any message to our readers.

Supratim: Right now I am just 15. First I would like to make a name for myself and establish myself then only I can give advise to others. So, not now..
