patriotic decision but he might regret after...wish everything shud happen in gud manner...he must gain respect from home crowds as well as sign a contract with a better league club than i-liga..
Key point from interview -1)Brandon Fernandes is hoping to use forthcoming Lusofonia Games to make an impression on India coach.
Having donned the India blue consistently in the U-13, U-14, U-16 and most recently the 2011 AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers in Tehran, Brandon is desperate to make the next gradual step up - the senior team.
"I hope it happens very soon. I am working hard, train everyday and am learning new things and putting it into practice. I have a great desire to play for the country, and it motivates me to do the best," said Brandon
2) He also topped among 5,000 players from India and qualified for the World Skills Challenge at Manchester United.
"When I was at old Trafford I met Nani, Michael Owen, Johnny Evans and Antonio Valencia and got to practice with these stars. When I was amongst them, I was motivated to play with them someday. It's a huge challenge for sure but I strive hard to get there," said the avid Man Utd
3)Brandon currently plies his trade in the second division of the South African league, in ASD Cape Town's midfield. "The training and practice abroad is very much different than it is here (India). There is lot of intensity and you have to play at a certain level of speed. You get trained on the philosophy (of the game) as well and it involves tactics and game plan."
And he is keen to continue playing abroad, so I-League clubs vying for him will have to wait a bit longer to sign him up. "I am presently focussing on play in Europe. It's my dream to play there. Many clubs here in India are keeping a track on me."
" Brandon Fernandes should not take any offers from anywhere because it's in Europe that he belongs. He must be patient."-Mike Steptoe
according to ASD's owner and Director Mike Steptoe. Steptoe is in Leicester at the moment and spoke to us over the phone:
"He's right. He should not take any offers from anywhere because it's in Europe that he belongs. He must be patient." Steptoe has overseen Brandon's development for the last two years and says that the player has grown in leaps and bounds in that time
