In an ideal situation I believe Asensio can be the best replacement for Mane. Traore can act as a second half substitute for either Minamino or Bobby (either of Mo or Minamino takes the centre) efficiently for now.
Jadon Sancho is the player Liverpool will look to replace Mane with it he leaves. If they had signed Werner, they would have indirectly replaced Mane with his countryman, Ismaila Sarr or Milot Rashica.
Also, Liverpool prefer to sell Salah this summer over Mane as they feel Salah’s form has dipped considerably. Mane has more to his game than Salah, and once Salah loses his speed, he is done and there are already signs he is struggling even in training I hear. We will see this season I guess.
@Baberto Liverpool were interested in Asensio couple of years back but since then he has had a very major injury and Liverpool will not take a risk on a player who will cost so much with injury issues like Asensio. Klopp likes Traore (he likes a lot of players) but Wolves want close to 100 mil Euros for him and his stats are only comparable to Harvey Barnes.
With a number of players getting close to 30's (Salah, Mane, Firmino, Henderson, Wijndalum, VvD, Matip) with Milner close to 35, they know they will have to undergo major reconstruction soon. Klopp wants to do this reconstruction before he leaves in 2024, but replacing most of these players in 1-2 transfer window like Chelsea are doing is never a good idea. I understand that there are some players they don't want to let go even if they get close to 32-33 (VvD, Henderson, Firmino) as long as Klopp is there.
Off the field, impact of Mo Salah on Liverpool city and club is great. He is a superstar, an iconic figure, as far as africa and arabs are concerned. Liverpool worldwide TV audience has increased massively with Mo Salah. It will not be an easy decision for them to sell Mo Salah
