After the Carnation Revolution in Portugal in 1974, Portugal gave all the claims to overseas Colonies around the world. In 1975 Portugal Parliament officially passed the law and recognised India sovereignty over Goa, Daman and Diu. So this idea that Goa is still a part of Portugal and illegally occupied by India is not true as Portugal themselves have passed this law which recognise India control of Goa. They gave all claims to all their colonies around the world-from East Timor to Cape Verde.

I would like to narrate an interesting story. In 1999, I was watching SAFF Cup which was held in Goa. India was playing Pakistan. In between the game, Bruno Coutinho was substituted by coach Sukhwinder Singh. Crowd didnt like it. Goan crowd threw bottles and started supporting Pakistan. They were angry because of treatment to Bruno Coutinho.

Oh ya... gotta love foreign backed teams... I mean, I am an Arsenal fan and we're owned by an American and a Russian close behind but I would not mind the ISL for example going for a majority Indian ownership model (even my second favorite team, Red Bulls, is foreign owned... and Melbourne City... damn it!)

But going back to the seriousness, the Premier League can survive for now with foreign ownership as it is kinda to big to fail but I really hope for a good future with the ISL, especially with more deals coming with European clubs happening. I mean, we do have big companies in India like the IOC, Tata Motors, and even Hindalco. We can survive from these guys.

@goalkeeper "daylight robbery of land" happens in WB also but as we have been adjusting to that problem for last 40 years nobody cares now a days. And I personally would love to settle in Goa someday.

Sorry to post something not related to the thread.

What do you mean by, "daylight robbery of land"?
  • goalkeepargoalkeepar Turkish occupied Cyprus29931 Points
@dhritiman7 and @aruljg our Politician's have robbed native goans of there Ancestral land and sold the land to builders to build housing colony's. 2ndly politicians have allowed large numbers of illegal emigrants to build illegal Slums. and you can't compare goa with WB. 100 goas will fit in WB. if this robbery continues in few years there will be no place to leave for Native Goans in there own land.

Foreign players worried about Greece crisis

ATHENS: Foreign football players in Greece are concerned about their euro-related contracts should the country default on its debt, Tuesday's edition of the sports daily Goal News reported.

While Greek voters go to the polls Sunday to decide on a crunch referendum which may leave them out of the Eurozone, agents of foreign players in the country are contacting major clubs in order to help their clients reword contracts to secure their wages.

According to the newspaper, the players are worried that the possible withdrawal of Greece from the Eurozone would mean an automatic devaluation of their contract to less than half of the value.

"It is obvious than foreign players with teams such as Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, AEK, PAOK and other Super League clubs already on the roster from previous agreements, will begin to be paid in a devalued currency," the newspaper said.

Goal News said that over the weekend the management of Super League clubs received numerous calls from agents of players asking that a clause be included in their already signed contracts saying that "if a change in the currency of the country occurs, then the players would be paid in the currency (euro) previously agreed upon."

The agents reportedly also want the wages of the players to be deposited in accounts abroad and not in Greece.

The newspaper reported that there is also fear from Greek players who play abroad that if the country leaves the European Union then they would not be considered in the category of EU players and thus may be kicked off the teams.
