We would be able to "manage" the referees etc....the objective of not getting humiliated would be achieved. FIFA is not going to get such a lucrative potential market get away so easy.....it would be managed is what i expect, with Praful Patel getting some sort of award for finally putting India on the global map.  Without a larger base/pool of players playing high quality regional leagues throughout the year (over 2-3 generations), no way we will develop a football mind. The boys coming out of academies need regular football for a few years before playing ileague/ISL. Right India doesn't have a system to ensure that, nor is there any plan to build one (with IMG systematically sabotaging even new regional league initiatives). So my guess, India will not be embarrased at U17WC, but will India be better off after the event, of course no (but lots of AIFF/IMG officials will be much much richer)

How are IMG-Reliance sabotaging regional leagues? Any proof of that? They are still as crap as they were before IMG came in.

From what I can gather from secondary data, pan NF league, all Bengal league, and a proper ilgeague 2 have failed to take off bcoz tacitly AIFF (and hence their snow white masters-IMG) have not let it happen. When you are taking away half the national domestic calender for exclusive private use and benefit, we should see very competitive ileague 2 (on lines of ileague), state and zonal leagues in the balance 4-5 months left in the domestic calender. Clearly the message from our lily white masters seems to be that no initiative to organize any regional league will be encouraged/tolerated.

    I meant NE, not NF.

Seems to be giving the IMG/AIFF's rose tinted standard views (for public consumption).....not really a balanced report.....

    SIKKIM PREMIER LEAGUE

    WINNING DEBUT FOR PENDAM FA

Pendam FA debuted in Sikkim Premier League (First Division) on a winning note with a 2-1 victory over United Sikkim FC on Monday at Paljor Stadium.

Amrit Tamang scored both the goals for Pendam FA - the first was an opportunistic poke past the onrushing goalkeeper in 11th minute. The second goal was a thumping free kick in the 64th minute.

Pelsang Lama gave some hope to United Sikkim with a header in the 87th minute but Pendam FA boys managed to hang on to record a historic win.

State Sports Academy two good for Sikkim Police

State Sports Academy scored a 2-0 win over Sikkim Police in a Sikkim Premier League match on Tuesday at Paljor Stadium.

Nikesh Gurung (in picture) gave the academy the lead in 3rd minute. Sikkim Police, fielding fresh faces, tried to come back but could not take its chances. Academy captain Sukraj Gurung scored the vital second goal in injury time to boost the scoreline.

I agree with @ArsenalFan700. The pathetic prevailing scenarios in the tier 2 state leagues were there much before IMG exerted control (& their whims) over Indian Football. The lack of vision and inept management by the authorities are the primary reasons. Lets take the case of Manipur. They were the earliest beneficiaries of the grants from the AIFF and by now should have the best league in the North East. People may state the insurgency & internal turmoil but the fact is that the state FA is cr@p, and is the reason for the current state. Same goes for the majority of the region.

Exactly! And look at Mizoram, they had the MPL during the ISL and it was brilliant\... best season yet. Other leagues such as the CFL or GPL or even now, the ASPL etc. have gone on without interruption.

The Pan-Bengal League did not fail because of IMG-Reliance but because of a lot of mistakes made by organizers. I forgot why the Pan-NE League failed but I heard stuff about that since 2010-11, before IMG-Reliance became as involved in Indian football as they are. Same with the Maha League.

I don't even see what IMG-Reliance gets out of stoping regional or state leagues... I can see why they would get rid of the I-League but the state and regional league are nothing to them.
