Thing is, Drew Carey is a great guy and owner but he is not even the main guy. Guys like Paul Allen, Joe Roth, and Adrian Hanauer do a lot more for the team but they won't be the ones in a video like this.
Seattle Sounders is well managed club.. even their fans are awesome... mostly credit should go to Drew Carey as he is a link/anchor b/w fans and management.
Hell there are not in Tier1 city like New york.. or else... 1 lakh capacity wouldn't be enough
sooner or later, I will be heading to their matches... in san jose or seattle...
Colin Falvey was a regular there. Quite a few former I-League foreigners have spent time in the league but they were never among the best but average. In the past I wanted someone like Sandesh Jhingan to come to USL as this is a league where he can get playing time and make mistakes but also learn, play in great facilities, and face less pressure and also be scouted by MLS and other leagues.
Salary wise it is not great, compared to the I-League where it seems getting 1 crore is easy, many USL foreigners dont even make half that. Majority of the team can make a decent living salary so they don't need a second job, especially if you are on an MLS reserve side, or play for a big team like Sacramento, but I-League is definitely better. Contract wise, USL is better as I say there is a 100% chance of getting payed whereas we know in the I-League some clubs struggle with that.
Overall, I would say that if you are an Indian who shows promise, the USL (or NASL) are one of the best leagues they can go to. Sure, it is not Tier 1 in the pyramid in the US but whatever, you still get playing time, good facilities, decent pay, live in a good country, and can get scouted by better teams (MLS especially) with less pressure.
@deepakc Keep in mind that Maldini and Beckham's Miami teams are separate. Maldini is making a team in the NASL, the second tier of American soccer while Beckham is making an MLS team, in obviously the top-tier.
Maldini will have an easier time as his team will be in the less restrictive NASL. They don't need superstar players (yet) or there own stadium (yet). They can just rent a college football stadium and deal with American football lines on the field cause they play in the NASL where expectations are not that high. Beckham will have it harder cause he needs superstar players and he needs a stadium... which is where the problems are right now cause Miami is super hard on NOT allowing the construction of new stadiums are the disaster that was the Marlins Park stadium for baseball.
Beckham and his team have already been rejected for a stadium and the only options seem to fuck them in the ass. Beckham's MLS team will be looked at as a super-power team in MLS and thus why they need this stadium before coming in, and this is due to the profile of MLS today, whereas Maldini's NASL side can start as an average side and build from there.
If Beckham can get his side running then Maldini's side has no chance.
@Nagendra Sucks cause a tier 1 city like New York does not have proper teams. Manchester City owned New York City FC and Red Bull owned New York Red Bulls.
Red Bulls just won the cup and we have a stadium, world-class training facility, Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez, Tim Cahill etc but still, I feel the name keeps people away.
