how is Oltmans feeling now that we defeated his country twice By the way I feel he is the best ever coach we have had in a while! let's completely disregard what Ashish Balal had said publicly recently
Really Good result for the Indian Hockey Team.Let me assure you, this was a very Strong Dutch side. So,this is quite an achievement by our young team.
Guys like Gurjant,Varun,Arman should have been tried before than the likes of Gurinder and Sumit. They have Great Potential, specially Arman and Gurjant.Varun is no slouch either.
They have made their presence count.Hope, they will be groomed instead of not so good players like Sumit,Gurinder etc.
The Dutch team had atleast 8-10 players who have already played more than 100 matches ,so this is a really big scalp for us.
The franchise ownership of HIL is not stable. Two teams are owned by Sahara Group whose owner is in jail most of the time. Odisha team is owned by PSU and pressure is there to cut the funding. Wave Group is struggling after owner got killed. Jaypee Group do not enjoy political patronage of the past and this infrastructure giant is suffering. I dont know anything about Dabang Mumbai owners. They erred in not expanding into south - Chennai, Bengaluru would have been great venues.
Mr Batra has a very tenuous relationship with FIH now and a 30 days international window which HIL was enjoying to engage with foreign players may not be granted from next year.
Star Group and Hero have other lucrative opportunities.
PHL, WSH and now HIL - this is third hockey league failure in India.
Instead of Franchise model which is turning out to be failure repeatedly in Indian Hockey, why not return to Clubs and PSU teams and organise year long league without foreign players!!! Clubs is what makes European Hockey strong.

V R Raghunath set to retire from International Hockey.
No HIL in 2018 due to financial problems of some Franchises.
