Syria gets a huge support from the stand that's motivate them a lot. It is really a disappointing performance by India. we leaded the first half by 15 points. And from that's situation to lost a match its really disappointing.

@usaindia ;  Anju Bobby George got Bronze Medal Long Jump in 2003 World Championship. Thats the only one medal India ever got. Sri Lanka has two medals in World Championship thru their star Susanthika Jayasinghe.

This was the worst ever performance by Indian Athletes. It is not about medals-we were not even competitive. This is what happens if focus is only on Qualification, not on performance or improvement or medals.

@Bad which of these athletes look promising for you for next year Commonwealth Games and Asian Games ?

ashindia,i fully agree with your statement. We as a country lack composure and calmness. This is purely my observation,i think the reason for this is the routine we follow in our day to day affairs. eg)if we are supposed to get list of 7-8 items,we hard make a list,,instead we just go and trust our memory skills. Many such type of examples exist in our society. We lack confidence and exposure.

@Bad which of these athletes look promising for you for next year Commonwealth Games and Asian Games ?

Commonwealth Games:-The only Genuine Medal Chance will be Neeraj Chopra(Men"s Javelin).I don"t see any other Athlete making inroads.

However, events like Men"s Triple Jump and Discuss Throw can be cashed upon for a medal as these events are not of the same standards as the other events in Commonwealth Games. However,we also don""t have any star Athletes in these events now-a-days.It will depend on which Athlete we field and what form he is in.

In the past Vikas Gowda won us the Gold in Mens Discuss whereas Renjith Maheswary and Arpinder Singh have managed to win us a  Bronze in Triple Jump.Vikas was a Wolrd Class Athlete(Top 8 in Men"s Discuss) whereas Renith and Arpinder were more of Qualification Type of Athletes(For Major Evens) but they still managed to pick us a Bronze.

Thus,Neeraj will be my best bet for a Gold Medal at Commonwealth Games.

Asian Games:-As far i can see,we have 4 Gold Medal chances.

1)Both the 4*400 m Relays(Men and Women).Barring any injury,Disqualification,Batton Drop etc i can Guarantee 2 Gold Medals. We are the best in the continent by a Country Mile.I am more certain of these 2 Gold Medals than the 2 Gold Medals in Kabbadi(Men and Women)

2)Next would Neeraj Chopra again. He would have a good chance of a Gold Medal. However, there will be couple of Athletes who may stretch him.

3)This may sound surprising but actually Swapna Barman(Women"s Hepthalon has the potential of  Winning a Gold Medal). This Event lacks Depth and Quality in Asia.

Rest, anyone can win a Gold Medal but i feel these 4 categories will be the A listed categories where we will and should be looking for Golds at Asian Games.

Except 100 & 200 meters India has athletes to win medals in all the other categories. I am talking about Asian Games here.

ashindia, you are right but i am talking about obvious Gold Medals Contenders.

Ideally, we would look  around 8-10 Gold Medals but with the increase in the INFLOW OF AFRICAN ATHLETES PARTICIPATING FOR ASIAN COUNTRIES(SPECIALLY GULF COUNTRIES) HAS NEGATIVELY EFFECTED US,SPECIALLY AT DISTANCE RUNNING EVENTS.

Guys, one more thing which i wanted to know i.e have the International Bodies of respective sports increased the number of slots from Asia in their Respective Sports for World Events??

eg)In case of Football,Asia had slot for 4.5 countries for Football World Cup.After Australia"s inclusion in Asia, i think the slots remained the same, which actually pretty much leaves 3.5 slots for actual Asian Countries as Australia will pretty much Qualify for the World cup Everytime.I dont know what benefit  teams like Saudi,Uzbek,Qatar etc have got with inclusion of teams like Australia because if Australia wasn"t there, then they would have had a better chance of Qualifying and why will these sort of teams agree to Likes of Australia to be included in Asia as it hampers their own participation if the slots for qualification is not increased.

Similarly in Basketball,i am both Australia and Newzeland in Asian Cup.Now,both of these teams are better than all the team in Asia barring maybe a couple of teams. Why would Asian Teams allow them to qualify via Asian Slots/quota is beyond me except if the Quota/Slots from Asia would have been increased.

    Can someone plz explain?

Inclusion of Australia is more of benefit to Australia themselves. Now Australia are also part of Asia Cup in basketball for the very same reason.
