A 23-member Indian squad will be travelling on September 28 to Tashkent to play in the AFC U-16 Quafiliers. India have been clubbed in Group C along with hosts Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Bahrain and Krygyzstan.
The team have been practicing at Conscient School at the Heritage School Ground in Gurgaon since September 14. Besides being appreciative about the practice facilities, Coach Thomas Joseph said, “We have a good team and we have practiced hard for the event. Uzbekistan are the hosts and stay the strong contenders. I’d say we have a 50-50 chance.”
India’s fixtures stay as follows:
Oct 1: India vs Krygyzstan (4pm) IST: 4.30pm
Oct 3: India vs Bahrain (4pm) IST: 4.30pm
Oct 5: Uzbekistan vs India (11.30am) IST: 12 noon
Oct 7: India vs Tajikistan (11.30am) IST: 12 noon

Archak, do you have the names of the members of the IMG Florida team and the SAFF Cup team so we can compare and see how much overlap there was and how many of each team is represented here?

With Afghanistan's stellar performance in their group - they beat group winners Yemen, and drew with 2nd place Kuwait and 4th place UAE, they have 5 points and a 4 - 3 goal difference (only considering the top 4 teams for this purpose), they have pretty much sealed the best 3rd place team slot. India's group has two strong teams (Uzbekistan and Bahrain), so the best 3rd place team slot is probably out of our reach. To finish as the best 3rd place team, we'd have to draw with Uzbekistan and Bahrain and beat the 4th place team (Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan) by at least 2 goals. However, if we draw with both Bahrain and Uzbekistan, we'll probably end up 2nd in the group anyway (assuming Uzbekistan beats Bahrain).
So, in summary, to qualify we need to finish outright in the top 2 with 3 wins against Kyrgyzstan, Bahrain and Tajikistan on the 1st, 3rd and 7th of October.

My take on India's opponents :-
1)Bharain :- Bahrain aren't the strongest of the teams at this level, although we can't afford to take them light.
2)Tajikistan :-Tajikistan is the team to watch out for, they are a good team at this level and will somewhat enjoy home like conditions in Tashkent.
3)Kyrgyzstan :-Definitely whipping boys of the group, but they will be difficult to beat as they too enjoy home like conditions in Tashkent.
4)Uzbekistan :-One of the best teams at U-17 level in Asia and regular U-17 World participants.Even a draw against them can be considered as an achievement.
My Prediction :- Uzbekistan will finish in 1st position and India,Tajikistan and Bahrain will fight it out for 2nd place.

This would have been great if we had the list of the players who were in IMG so that we could compare for ourselves whether IMG has helped or not
