Every team in ISL have loaded themsevles with foreign strikers/forwards and Centre-backs.. Looks like it is very tough for our players to get game time in these positions... Atleast for Super Cup, they should reduce the no of foreigners to 3...
Nobody cares about the NT. Nothing will change unless we have a merge the leagues and make it run for 7-8 months. Then things will change for our NT and we may get to see good players coming up. Till then no matter what our NT do in the field we will still have these fake owners who doesn't care.
@Deb_Ban Reducing the number of foreigners might not necessarily solve the issues in NT. These are the things AIFF can do to solve the forward line crisis in NT.
1. Have a limit on not just number of foreigners. But based on positions. A team cannot sign more than 3 foreigners. A team can have one def one mid and max one forward/winger. If they severely restrict this. Indian players will get game time. No offense sunil is the only guy who seems to get regular game time in ISL.
2.Apply the same restriction on CFL/KPL/MPL and other leagues. Every local league team start with the culture of signing a random non league african. THIS HAS TO STOP!!!!!!!. We don't want to give opportunities to random people than our own. Restrict based on positions. These are member organizations affiliated to AIFF. We need a supply chain. If you wanna sign Random folks you can sign only on other positions. This will be temporary until we solve this crisis.
PS: I don't want to discuss about merger and the number of games in India. Its an age old battle which has no beef.
@giridharan Position of a player does not come written on the forehead of a player. I can field a striker showing him as a defender in the team list and then play him as a striker. If someone ask me any question, I will say its modern concept of total football.
Again my point was we crib about not having enough players getting chances to make it to NT. Lower leagues have a big responsibility. for a 3 month league random African player gets a chance but not local players. They should own that they have a large responsibility to sign players emerging from U-15 and baby league to be part of their league. AIFF cant do it all. We need a large pool. AIFF should enforce this rule.
Also regarding position yes you are right this can change. But my point is if coach changes a players position. Then also enforce the rule one player per position in a game. if you change a defender as striker. Then you cannot field another foreign striker in the field its simple. One player per position. Thats all i am saying
I understand your thought behind saying so, but position based foreign quota is almost impossible to implement. 3+1 rule is the best. In this way teams are forced to have an Indian 2nd striker, otherwise if they use 2 foreign strikers they have to sacrifice on the other front. Also U19 rule should be there. In short definitely foreigner number needs to come down.
