The former Air India player also give credit to former coach David Booth who nurtured the squad for three years. " Khalid Jamil (coach) and I worked under Booth. It was Booth who guided us. In a way he nurtured us to take over the reins," Picardo said.
Elaborating on the club's plans, the manager said Mumbai FC is now working on an ambitious plan to build a stadium. "We have identified three places and our legal team is on the job to finalise the plot," he said.
The club, which wants to connect with every Mumbaikar, has already won thousands of fans who access the latest info from the internet. "We have got fans fro Finland to Germany who keep track of our progress," Picardo said.

From having not signed a single player a month before the transfer window deadline to making emergency signings and registering a full roster in a matter of two weeks, from being branded as an outfit with no star attractions to becoming a team wherein each player takes on the responsibility and plays like a star, from losing their inspirational captain –Nishant Mehra, who tested positive for a banned substance - to Noel Wilson taking over and expertly captaining the side,from being ‘almost’ disbanded to challenging for the fifth position in the I-league table, it has been a fairy-tale season so far for Mumbai FC and has seen them often wave the underdog flag.
To the relief of Jamil and several Mumbai FC fans, the club decided to stay functioning and eventually signed players two weeks before the transfer window deadline day. The major signings included the two Nigerian front men – Henry Ezeh and Sukore Theopilus Ebi, the Indian discards - Bungo Singh and Lalwampuia, and Evans Quao who gave the club a major lift by signing with them for another season.
With no big names amongst the squad members until Abhishek Yadav joined post Asian Cup in February, most pundits expected Mumbai FC to be in the relegation mix this season. Much to their astonishment, Mumbai FC started their season nothing like a relegation fighting side.
