I am truly surprised how lightly racism is being taken. We certainly did not find @sujoy1976's comments funny. Racism is not funny. We would urge members to end the matter here. We do not want to ban people, but if someone asks for it, we cannot help. He was a repeat offender and we cannot be present all the time to delete his offensive/abusive/racist comments. Fun at the expense of someone is not funny.
Here is the official match report from USC. Ranti was red-carded and United lost 2-0 to East Bengal
Kolkata 04 Feb ’14: East Bengal defeated United Sports Club 2-0 in an IFA Shield match played today in the Salt Lake Stadium, with Ranti Martins, the United talisman getting sent off in a controversial decision.
The Purple Brigade set the tone of the match early, with the midfielders linking well to invade the East Bengal box. Eric Brown was once again in his best avatar, distributing the ball with elan from the middle of the pitch. Twice in the first half, he crated major breakthroughs in the East Bengal box, but failed to open the account for his team.
Ranti also had a gem of a chance before the breather, but his effort was not enough to break the deadlock and the teams went to the break with a goalless scoreline.
After the break, Lalrindika Ralte, the East Bengal midfielder, pulled off one of his trademark long range efforts to draw the first blood in the tie in the 49th minute.
Only a few minutes after the goal, United suffered a major jolt, when Ranti Martins was handed marching orders by the referee, after a spat with Ralte in the East Bengal penalty box. The decision was certainly a harsh one, and it did give East Bengal the boost they were looking for.
James Moga scored another in the 69th minute to seal the match for the Red and Gold side and wasteful Eric couldn't provide much help the team's cause.
Anjan Nath, the interim coach of the United SC side sounded determined in his post-match presser about the team's chances of going into the semis.
"We can't do anything with the referee's decision. We still have a match left and will try to win that and go into the semis," he remarked.
Nabab Bhattacharya, the official of the side, also supported his thoughts and spoke on the same lines.
I appreciate Karim because he never cries over unavailability of any player... he tries to manage with whatever he has. Look..no Shilton, no Sandeep, no Rowilsin, no Manish, (now) no Denson (likely), no Odafa, no Christopher...still he is trying to do his best and his inexperienced boys are fighting. The Kolkata media is amazing.... any one player is missing from the starting line up of a particular team.... they say the Coach has fielded his reserves!!!
Mohun Bagan may not enter the Semi Final tomorrow, but the boys will give it all against that decent Bangladeshi team. But miracles do happen in games and who knows Karim may get the Birhday Gift he desires.
How funny it is to know that the IFA has asked AIFF to postpone only East Bengal's I- League match and not others'. MSC are already in SF, while they could be joined by either or both of Mohun Bagan and USC, then why IFA is so concerned about EB ? Is it.... the Final will be between EB and Bangladehi team? (Has it been already decided ???)Utpal dada please answer... don't say it is due to oversight...
