Majid Bhiskar, Jamshed Nasiri were Iranian students at Aligarh Muslim University and AMU Student Union President of those days brought them to Calcutta clubs. Even Chima Okorie was student in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. Foreign students have reduced in India these days. Many years ago, in Pune, there was one Spicer College. There were so many African Students in that College that they used to organise Africa Cup of Nations and many countries were able to form complete squads of their country students. Now no more.
Foreign students have NOT reduced in India...in fact they have more than doubled. ....hell quadrupled since those days.
Difference is the quality of foreign players in I-league has improved...and clubs want professional players...not some random srudent who is good at football
Yep, hopefully gone are the days where we see these players come from colleges as foreigners in the I-League and such. These guys were good and internationals but lets be honest, Iran and all these nations have improved so much since then, no wonder these guys made their nationals team back then.
speaking about Iranian players there is one moistly unknown Iranian in goa. Abol Khosgavar he has played for East Bengal , Mohammedan sc, Salgaocar ,Churchill. and few more. now days he is settled in goa. and is seen for I-league, fed cup, Durand, and inter village Match's. he makes a living buy asking money from players, coaches and friends etc.
