Good move for him in my opinion. He has done really well this season by notching the most goals in a single season for him but still, that number is 4. I feel being a Shillong Lajong, where he will be playing in front of local fans, will give him some sort of edge that he was missing at East Bengal.
Only 2 starts this season as well for East Bengal so I am hoping Lajong will give him more playing time.
@wakao10 Lol...! Seems to be some tug-of-war game for Dhanchandra Singh btwn the the two Kolkata Clubs! This used to be the practise during transfer season in the late 80s and early 90s - when players(on demand) used to be in the "custody" of a certain club while the other club used to try and use force and muscle power to get hold of this poor guy! All those madness is now gone..!
However, there seem to be some such developmenet yesterday, when Dhanachandra Singh (after he signed for Mohun Bagan on a 2 yrs contract) still agreed on good faith to make a coutsey visit to EB just to clear the air, and meet EB offcials only on their request - as EB was also keen to rope in. This is when, it is reported in this newspaper that this poor guy was being put under pressure/threats by EB to sign in their favour.
Really do not know if its true - but if its so, then really sad.
The news about Dhanachandra (if it is true) is a shame. A player has full rights to decide for which club he would play. But to apply force.... well it is just not done. I fail to understand why somebody try to force an unwilling horse to drink water. If X doesn't want to play for your club. it should be the end of the story. Go & find another guy rather than wasting your time and energy and also earning a bad name. Hope we will never have any such incident in future.
Regarding Odafa... it is surprising that a club who couldn't pay 7 m salary has contracted a player for 3 years whose fitness, commitment and willingness all are in doubt. If 1.2 Cr/year is paid to Odafa after 2013-14 performance, then Alemao should pay Balwant 2 Cr/year and contract him for 5 years!! Odafa has been the luckiest player in India, since he has been overpaid by Mohun Bagan for the last 3 years & now by Churchill for the next 3 years!!
Churchill Brothers' former Ghanaian goalkeeper and former goalkeeping coach of Ghana national team Edward Ansah, is linked with Churchill Brothers for the job of head coach in the club.
