1) What type of opposition are we looking at AFC CL Qualifiers? If Arab clubs, then a trip to Gulf or Iran makes more sense. If East Asian clubs, then China/Thailand is the best option.
2) Will they give enough break in next year I-League so that Bengaluru FC can go for 2015 AFC Champions League Qualifiers and then AFC Cup games? It will be very hectic. They wasted time now-september, october. The whole calendar should have been shifted atleast 1 month earlier.
Arab clubs are in season as of next week , Iran isn't a good destination for rmteams for a preseason tour. Dubai would be the only feasible Gulf destination.
Thailand is only worth it if you play Buriram or Muangthong, and if you get access to their awesome training grounds.
Current AFC statement is that...BFC will play ACL qualifiers against some equally lesser ranked Nation...they have to play 3 rounds to qualify. Should they lose in 1st , 2nd or 3rd round...they will then drop into the AFC cup..
If they somehow qualify for the Champions League....ONLY then will East Bengal get into the AFC cup !
OH So East Bengal AFC Qualifier slot is not confirmed? I thought East Bengal has to play in qualifier games to go into AFC Cup 2015.
So if BFC play in AFC Cup because of losing in ACL qualifiers, we have then only one team in AFC Cup.
So we have gone backwards. All fans here at IFN were adamant that remove Air India, ONGC as we want more points and we want direct slot in ACL. What did we get? earlier atleast 2 of our clubs in AFC Cup. Now only one will be there. ACL qualifier and losing there and dropping to AFC Cup option was always present earlier also.
JSW is in deep shit if the Coal gate scam smacks them in the face. They have taken loans from the market upto 2.5 lakh crore and if the things go against them, then expect a financial crisis sort of situation in India not only for JSW. Maybe thats why BFC was sidelined from the ISL.
Latest news from AFC officials during visit was , East Bengal only get AFC slot if BFC qualify for ACL. Things could change, as this was baswd on the current rankings where we are #22 out of 46.
After AFC Cup & ACL and latest rankings , things could change
