BFC! They will face tough competition in I-League this year with so many teams having better foreigners that last time. Maybe on par with them. Tough. But, this time's I-League will also be worth watching. But, only if the buggers at AIFF and Ten action televise the games. Last time around they said they will telecast 75 games. And what did we get in the end. Shillong games played in houseful stadium with no coverage. And teams playing in empty Salt lake stadium. Looks that the teams are playing for themselves.
Shillong games aren't covered for a couple of reasons...
No airport in Shillong , so costs of carrying all the equipment up from Gauhati is high and puts Ten Action off
SLFC owner is VP of AIFF , and has at times asked for games not to be televised , because Lajong fans are from rural parts of Meghalaya and not the city of Shillong ( unlike RWFC & RUFC ) , hence the fear of televised games would mean fans opting to watch at home rather than long drives to & from Shillong
That idea was tried in Serie A years ago. ..but in age of streaming and internet...i doubt it would work. But last year Lajong suffered a major drop in attendance and RUFC figures were inly boosted by the Derby game. expect BFC to have an avg of 10,000 at Kanteerava. . the lack of ISL in the city will actually help them...
Pune on the other hand will probably see even lower attendance this season
