Canada and New Zealand would give India a realization of what it really is like to a ranked ~100 FIFA nation. Both nations have players who play at decently high levels by Indian standards while our best player is 33 and couldn't make it in MLS or Portugal's 2nd Division.
Were you following Chhetri when he was in Kansas City? He played 45 minutes in the US Open Cup and failed to impress, getting a yellow card. He scored hattricks against college sides but they aren't even professional. Yes, there was an endorsement factor but fact of the matter was that he couldn't break into the team at all while for Canada at least, that is the minimum for them.
Bizarre reasoning for postponement of India vs Macau match. If cricket match is played in Guwahati, Football is postponed in Bengaluru. AIFF has become Dalaal of Star Sports Network ??
Two ways to look at it btw. Cricket is still the No.1 in this country and will totally overshadow the football game . We might qualify for the Asian Cup with a win and it won't get much coverage than Kohlis half century. Besides it's just one day, won't harm anyone.
Comments
Both had put glass ceiling on him breaking into the first team.
He could have made it if they were more interested in his footballing skills than possible financial endorsement from India esp at Sporting Lisbon.
May be at MLS for Minnesota kinda clubs
Let's accept the harsh reality
The only glass ceiling I see is above your head and the reality !
Even Sunil Chhetri himself has admitted in numerous occasions that he just wasn't good enough for MLS
And neither was he good enough at Lisbon
If you speak to the coaches at Kansas or Sporting they won't be as generous with their comments on his ability.
But since you are an ISL bhakt ...footballing reality is not something you would comprehend.
@ArsenalFan700 That's the point I was trying to make.
Its getting tiresome of your stereotype of ISL fans as being dumb, try something else.
If u would have followed him during Kansas he was decent enough in the reserves but wasn't given a proper chance in the main team to develop.
When given chances it was only for a few minutes and in fact on occasions as lone striker with 10 men behind the ball.
He was only looked for commercial purposes rather than a decent player.
Prove us anywhere where the Kansas coaches have given a negative comment on him?
Pretty sure u will come up how bad he was with inside scoops to shut us all up.
