Guys, plz help me understand the process for Asian cup.

Confusion lies as follows:-
1)how many teams will compete for last 12 positions(After 12 positions have been taken up by 8 group winners and 4 best second place teams across all 8 groups and on what basis(league,playoff or what)

@Bad  Out of 40 teams, 12 make it to 3rd round of WCQ. Then the next best 24 teams according to their finish in respective groups play for 12 spots(If UAE make it to WCQ 3rd round) or 11 spots.

So this means India can/should come below 100 by the end of these qualifiers. I am expecting minimum of 10 points out of these 8 matches and after that 3 rd round qualification will provide another opportunity for garnering huge kitty of points.

Getting past 2nd roumd not going to be easy but its not impossible either

so the rules says group leaders and 4 best second finishers... and next 24 goes to asia cup qualifiers...

we are looking realistically good for asia cup qualifier... and realistically that will help us garner more points than world cup qualifiers..

We got to find too good  set of players like romeo suddenly becomes a star player of brazil, Brandon gets a deal to Europe gurpreet suddenly getting scouted by elite European clubs. and around half a dozen indian players ripping apart the opponent I-league teams.. which all seems less likely for now

By 3rd round I meant we will not make it in the first 12.The remaining 12 teams for Asia cup, we'll gain some ranks by playing against them not with the elite of Asia
