What is amusing is that till the 11th round, noone was talking was talking abt "Sochib" and after 4 atrocious matches,we are again back to square one!
Till the 11th round, all of us were gung ho abt the team this year(some even challenged saying, who says Bagan defence is the weakest, when it has conceded the minimum nos. of goals!).
What surprises me is that we are so shortsighted/have short lived memories.
Fact remains:
1. That Bagan had one of the most formidable team this year - especially in GK, Midfield and Upfront position, and the I-League wud have been an cake walk for them had their lazy coach didnt get complacent towards the business end of the League. 2. Bagan lost the league, rather than BFC winning it. 3. In the past , its happened with EB also when they were in a strong position in I-League/was also playing AFC simultaneously and their players were sandwiched btwn I-League & AFC and they forgot which one to prioritize upon (its the coach and management's responsibility not to get distracted and instead hv a professional who can actually help them in staying focussed - maybe a sports psychologist)
The "Sochib" issue relates to Sponsorship......nothing related to the team's performance. Losing one tournament from a comfortable position does not mean it is the end of the world. This sort of unpredictableness makes everybody interested & engrossed. Let us remain with the team & I'm sure they will deliver before the season is over.
This will haunt us for a long long time....this was a team falling apart suddenly....
If we can lead from this it will be good. If we can get a sponsor, it wouldn't be a bad idea to hire Aw and let him have a go.....we need to first get a sponsor and get a local stadium on a long term contract eg howrah/rabindra sarovar (for non derby matches). The home ground at maidan should be turned into a quality training centre with gym/clubhouse/dorm/press room etc
That will show a vision which a legendary club like MB deserves. Right now , in terms of facilities' maybe Aizawl, Dsk & Neroca are better.
For the Record...Mohun Bagan have remained Unbeaten in 21 Cosecutive Home matches in AIFF conducted Tournaments starting from 27th.
