No doubt its a great day for us but at the same time we must not go overboard with the ranking. We should prove this isn't a flash in the pan. We are nowhere close to beating a North Korea or Iraq but we are way above them in the ranking. Most importantly SC should not gloat too much, everyone saw how we played against Cambodia and Myanmar....
Atleast this awareness of how to improve our FIFA rankings has come into the minds of our federation. Earlier nobody cared. It is important that they should play more Friendlies in future. There are issues like planning and arranging Friendlies in advance, Rotation of Stadiums for National team, TV Telecast. AIFF should plan on Marketing and making money when our National Team is playing. Once National Team becomes a big financial contributor to AIFF, things will improve and Ranking will also improve.
Interesting article on how Football Federations make money by Friendlies of their National Team. Mexico gets 2 million Dollars per match - and they play atleast 8 matches every year on FIFA match dates in America- from their marketing partner in USA. Thats a handsome 16 million Dollars just by 8 Friendlies. They have similar deals in Mexico and in other countries where they play. TV Rights of Friendlies, Jerseys, Tickets, Sponsors is other money spinner for them.
We are still not born it seems in how to market our National team.
"DIPLOMATIC ROW OVER FOOTBALL COACH: Delhi, April 4: India have been embroiled into a diplomatic row with countries like Germany, France and Italy over their football coach, Stephen Constantine. The AIFF Chief Mr Pappu Patel (he, incidentally, can dance sala, contrary to the reports by some sources) has alleged that the high profile coach is at the verge of being hijacked by one of these countries after his repeated stellar performances of catapulting Rwanda from 133 to 67 and India from 171 to 101. The gifted coach, however, said that he does not have any intention of joining any European country as Head Coach, as salaries are low there, ant talents are less. The coach, who has unearthed 30-odd talents during his tenure like the famous Sumeet Passi reiterated that his aim is to raise India's profile higher, like, to break into the 50s.
Ex-India Captain Baichung Bhutia (he also can dance), though attributing the rise of India to ISL, highlighted that the rise started only after he started advising AIFF. He also said that he is committed to giving more advises, and supply more players through his agency, even though this calls for taking more burden for the sake of development."

2 Asian qualfiers
And AIFF champions cup
If we win 4 matches including 2 qualifiers we have very good chance of moving into top 70 by September
And with the marketing our guys have we even see some of our players making it to some good European leagues
Gurpreet Sandhu in Particular
May be dreaming but a good chance though
Hope you haven't commented in goal.com .. This comment made my day...
