Visa problems are there. Thats why matches/tours with any American entities USA, Guam, Puerto rico should be avoided. 1 day is wasted in biometrics, 1 day for visa interview in person- that means whole squad needs to first fly to New Delhi. Then endless wait is there. Puerto Rico or Guam has to clear immigration paperwork for visitors from Washington DC as they are not states. For world cup qualifier, Guam only gave visa to 15 Iran players and that too with tha date 1 day before the match.
Just wondering...
AIFF seems infatuated with FIFA Rankings...
In that case, they should avoid SAFF Tournament...
We will slip down in rankings.
Atleast for God's sake, consider sending an U-23 team.
@ArsenalFan700 Most European countries, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, Australia, NZ have easy visa waiver policies with USA so it is not a problem for their citizens. Most Asian and african countries passport holders get delayed.
In a packed schedule, which club will release players for 3 days just for visa application in person. Then a wait is also there. many sportsman in other streams have waited for weeks and finally cancelling the US trip. I think our U-23 trip to USA also got visa problems.
Fair enough about the article, I am not sure how most of this works. I just find it strange how most countries us the US for training purposes with little interference. Add to that we have seen plenty of Indian players come to the US for relative reasons in the past. Makes me believe most of the visa problems are from the side of the AIFF rather than the US.
