Spurs carry on winning race against AIFF India

Tottenham Hotspur bag yet another win in the Frenz International Cup when they had a tough encounter with AIFF India at the UiTM Stadium on Tuesday.

Being on top of a group does not guarantee an easy win, even for a team like Spurs when they went face-to-face with minnows AIFF India.

Spurs dominated most of the game, creating chances as early as the fourth minute. Loft Henson took a shot after a pass from the right flank but it hit the bar.

AIFF India nearly took the lead when Walkes Charles made a mistake by sending the ball to Basumatary Milan who immediately took the shot.

In the 29th minute, Nishu Kumar's foul against Georgiou Michael in the penalty area resulted in Spurs being awarded with a penalty which was easily perfected by Harrison Adam.

Several attempts came from both sides until the 45th minute with one just within seconds after the second half started that Spurs finally found the back of the net again, this time from Henson.

Refusing to admit defeat, AIFF India created quite a scene with multiple dangerous attempts in Spurs' penalty box.

In the 60th minute Ranawade Ganesh made a wonderful pass to Basumatary Milan, who cooly beat Voss William for a much celebrated goal by the Indian side.

Infused with determination and hopes of redemption, India were close to a second goal at the 75th minute however Milan's powerful strike was only inches away.

Two goals were clearly not enough for McKenna Thomas and his boys when substitute Sterling Barrett scored a third, thus bagging yet another 3 points to retain their spot in the group.

Spurs will face Estudiantes FC of Argentina in the final fixture of the group stage whereas AIFF India are set to face Frenz Malaysia.

If given more of exposure they can surely improve and compete against the Big Boys of world football

First we should target matching the big boys of Asia that would be a good step and hopefully we could do it by 2022 or something when indian team not qualifying is considered a surprise by experts and not their qualification

Anyway glad to see the results... i dont care if we played defensive to get a result... trying to get a result is what matters

What Shankar said. Lets first focus this year on re-establishing ourselves as the best in South Asia (Hopefully that can happen now after the wank-fest over Afghanistan is over and then from then on, we focus on establishing ourselves among the middle tier class of Asia like Malaysia, Thailand, etc. and then we reach for the stars... by that I mean, level 3... Uzbekistan, Qatar etc. and then we can reach the promise land and get with Japan, South Korea etc.

So there are 4 tiers here:

Tier 1: South Asia and the minnows.
    Tier 2: Malaysia, Thailand.
    Tier 3: Qatar, Uzbekistan
Tier 4: Japan, South Korea, Australia, etc.

@samiran I meant to say compete at the same level as they play you can see they are not of the same level treated as minnows.
