If an Indian striker can't learn after playing next to a guy who scores 20 goals/season, he won't learn anything even after playing next to Anelka..oh wait, that already happened in ISL Indian coaches is the way to go for senior NT for next 5 years. AIFF can do invest meanwhile in youth team coaches and nationwide grass root coach education programs.
Okay, lets look at this... India will probably end 4th or 5th in the FIFA World Cup/Asian Cup qualifiers. These end on 29 March 2016 and the play-offs end in October 2016. I am just going to assume we won't make it to the third-round of Asian Cup qualifying. The SAFF Cup will happen in 2017 and I doubt we will see another Nehru Cup so our next major cup is the 2017 SAFF Cup. World Cup/Asian Cup qualifiers won't happen again till 2019 so from 2017 to 2019 what will India do? We don't need Stephen Constantine for that but we need someone who can play friendlies and do well enough to get India to a high enough FIFA ranking so that we don't have to play in the first-round play-off again and can go straight into the group stage.
Or if AIFF has its ways, dump the NT altogether once the qualifliers are over. Hire a coach in 2017, 6 months before the SAFF cup and create a new squad from scratch. Ranking wise we can't go below 193, right?
On a serious note, someone like Sen, Reddy or Colaco can be the interim and cheap solution till we have players who can perform at atleast SEAsian level.
