We are back to some weekday I-League action! Right now, Mohun Bagan look set to run away with the title as they hold a three point lead with two games in hand. Bengaluru FC and Royal Wahingdoh are losing momentum but they can fix that as they take on two teams which have not had the best of luck lately. Pune FC meanwhile have a chance to get their name back into the running late on and then you have Bharat FC and East Bengal in a match of pointlessness! YA! #LetsFootball
We start off the round with Sporting Clube de Goa hosting title challengers Royal Wahingdoh at the Fatorda Stadium. The match, which will be telecasted on TEN Action, will be massive for both teams. Mateaus Costa's side will be desperate for three points as another loss could see the team languish at the bottom of the table for quite some time. Royal Wahingdoh meanwhile are the surprise package this season and will look to continue a title challenge no one thought was possible. Santosh Kashyap's men have pretty much not put a foot wrong this season and after the 3-3 draw with Bengaluru FC last match the Shillong club will relish the chance to play the last place team.
We then go into the double header as Pune host Salgaocar and Bengaluru FC host Mumbai FC. Karim Bencherifa's men know that their chances of winning the I-League are slim but not out of the question while Salgaocar... well... no one knows with them anymore. Bengaluru FC will be very concentrated on the result in Goa as a Wahingdoh defeat could see the reigning champions take Mumbai really seriously as they look to mount for a second title. Mumbai however will look to get back to winning ways after failing to take three points in their last four games.
Wednesday will see the conclusion of the round. The first match will be between table toppers Mohun Bagan and relegation threatened Shillong Lajong. Sanjoy Sen will look for his strike force to take full advantage of a leaky Lajong defense that has given up the third most goals this season. Currently, Yusa Katsumi, Balwant Singh, and Sony Norde combine for 14 goals this campaign for Bagan and if all goes their way on Tuesday, could see Bagan lead by 6 points with 2 games in hand at the end.
The final match of the round will be between Bharat FC and East Bengal. Eelco Schattorie has not had a good start at all as coach of East Bengal and Bharat FC have not had a good start to their history as well. Both will look to take the game on Wednesday and build momentum for the rest of the season. Classic mid-table match-up.
