Let's look at the positives : 4 debutantes played... Sunil Chhetri found his scoring boots... Great crowd & atmosphere Keeping a team like Oman to a respectable score is a great achievment and noone predicted it to be this close in scoreline
The refs were brilliant. .. no point critiscing the linesman...Robin was offside and interfering with play. ..no reason for him to go so early.. the penalty was a right call...as was denying Chhetri's feable attempt to get one..
We didn't create much else...but with a striker like Robin who doesn't know the basics...what can one expect..
As someone earlier pointed out...if I-League ref's were better...guys like Dhana would learn how to tackle...
Which brings me to the next point. ..for all those lamenting about missing Jhinghan.... he is no 1 man saviour... SCdeGoa struggled all season with him and Garcia..and a lot of the crucial matches he wasn't that much of an influence. . 2nd point. ..why doea Constantine pick Augustine and Gurwinder as his back up Centre Halves..if they are behind make shift CB Dhanachandra in his opinion !?!
There was a moment of controversy in the 67th minute. From a short corner-kick, Lyngdoh played the ball for Dhanpal Ganesh whose first time pass for Vineeth saw the latter cross it inside the box. The ball took a touch of Sallam Al Mukhaini and went into the back of the net. However, the linesman raised his flag as he deemed Robin Singh to be in an offside position.
1.We did not use the width at all because we constantly kept kicking it to Robin and he failed at holding the ball and flicking it wide.
2.Sehnaj's lack of skill in passing turned out to be expensive for India. Eugene was often seen helpless in the midfield and no where to pass. Giving it to Sehnaj meant losing possession. They were outnumbered.
3. Rino Anto was out of position so many times, it's not even funny.
4. Robin is shit other than his size, he's of no use.
5.Jeje did a better job of breaking the Offside trap in the dying minutes.
Good fight by India. losing 2-1 to oman is respectable. we could have drawn . but we must focus on winning the next vs guam. need improvement by the time we play iran.
