Even that club is named after the ground, Fateh Maidan aka LB stadium. So, it's unlikely they're going to change stadium. Cricket has already moved to Rajiv Gandhi stadium.
Fateh Maidan could be converted into a good football stadium. It's oval shaped (not circular like most cricket stadiums) and with a bit of remodelling and a new pitch, you'll get a good football stadium at a good location inside city limits.
It would comfort the fans more if they shore some updates..till now apart from maurya interviews, there is virtually no real info...no team news, coaching staff, interactions with fans for match day....
Potentially this club has an opportunity to be a BFC which they are wasting
LB Shastri stadium hosted Football in Afro Asian Games in 2003. It has Floodlights and is in the City Center so good crowd is possible. Khuman Lampak Stadium is a very popular venue in Imphal. Santosh Trophy was organised there in 2002-03. Recently there were some problems in JLN Stadium Shillong and Imphal hosted some games for Shillong Lajong.
They can, definitely. But the name will hold them back from being a mass supported club.I would have preferred Phagwara FC JCT -- a la PSV Eindhoven (no touch of Philips).
@Deb_Ban Actually the name was their speciality. JCT was a famous Textile Mill. Players used to get a good job with the Company while playing Football for them. Many players after retirement continued to be employees there. Same holds true for other teams like Punjab Police, BSF Jalandhar, or say Air India, ONGC. The name JCT used to attract budding players in Punjab that there is JCT who will take care of them, employment or infrastructure wise, if they are able to perform in Football. A town name do not have such charisma. Phagwara FC - In one year, either owner will change or some fake teary eyed cricketer will come acting as a owner or club will close down.
