@ArsenalFan700 DD Sports is like what we have C-Span or PBS in the States. They do not look at Sponsorship money before Broadcasting it. Infact the main motive is to spread those events which are overlooked by Big Networks like Star Sports. BBC in UK show Dog contest or Flower exhibition just because somebody from Royal Family is going to innaugarate. But 2nd Division games broadcast will be watched by more people then what viewership is nowadays for most of the programs what DD Sports show. It may help local sponsors for the clubs as well as higher viewership in states like Sikkim, Manipur if their clubs are involved. Right now by finishing all non ISL Football like Federation Cup, Durand Cup, and now no TV Broadcast of 2nd Division-I have a serious doubt whether IMG-R will allow Tv telecast of I-League itself.
Well teams from 2nd division(excluding clubs like fateh nd minerva nd etc) seem to have proper youth development and basic structure already in place and even if they get last position in 1st division they wont quit indianfootball and they are going to come back and try again in 2nd div (team like chanmari fc). SO instead of corporate teams like bharat fc we must hav teams which can survive fr long periodswell obviously depending on their merit and other criterias
Should we also decide champions of the leagues based on how they run their team over results? You said it yourself - it needs to be dependent on merit. There is no guarantee that these teams will not quit either. We thought the same about Pune FC who were running things the right way, see what happened to them.
I think until the re-structure happens, things will be crappy.
