Indian football training till date is organised by PE masters / ex players who would sit under a tree sipping tea while the students ran 5 rounds of the ground and then threw a ball on to the field and asked them to play.
...And we want India to qualify for the World Cup ?
I decided to be the change and set PIFA (Premier India Football Academy) in 2003 to bring about a revolution in changing the mindset by delivering quality training session to the students. Being one of the first Indians to hold an UEFA licensed coaching badge, the academy started the first coaching program for grass root training in PIFA, a skills contest to identify talent, any NGO to support under privileged children play football and live a dignified life, leagues for children and finally camps in India and in Europe and finally a team that plays the national I league.
Today, Indian football is slowly evolving. The country now has a coaches training program that inculcates age specific training.
I am now an AIFF coaches instructor for D license. I have been coaching a low budgeted team - PIFA Colaba FC to get optimum results in the MDFA Elite Division (3rd place) and AIFF 2nd division.
I am now looking for partners with like minded and football passionate individuals or companies to take PIFA to the next level.
Why is dempo bothering with this?...surely we should have had teams from Kolhapur Nagpur etc for 2nd division where it would have been a big deal like neroca.....
