Hockey is the most popular game in Ranchi. Having said that, Cricket was very popular when Jamshedpur Keenan Stadium used to host matches. Dhoni has popularised Cricket in Jharkhand. Football is recognised in Jamshedpur-I dont know about Football in Ranchi .

And putting football an alien sport their won't help
Football is recognised in Jamshedpur-I dont know about Football in Ranchi .
