If that actually happens the 2nd Tier clubs will back away as there will hardly be any sponsor for them. This will take us to the dreadful situation of no supply of quality players once the present lot ages in next few years. What will happen ? The Football Officials & their business partners as well as Malkin will never bother but Football in this country will fade away slowly but surely. The age old British policy of divide & rule has beautifully been adopted by we Indians...take away Mohun Bagan, EB & BFC...lure them to ISL....rest will fall down.
Why saff cup should suffer. Let us continue as it is. Also isn't Afghanistan also left Saff, then how come 7 teams. Should be 6 teams. Moreover, since the beginning of joining IFN, I am of the view that either Saff should merge with CAFF or quit Saff and join ASEAN.
East Bengal to collect ISL “invitations to Bid” documents on Wednesday
May 16, 2017 09:44 pm
Kolkata: The announcement was made on Monday only, but after all the speculations, Kingfisher East Bengal is going to collect their “Invitation To Bid” documents tomorrow from FSDL.
Though, the chance of playing in the ISL is yet to be decided. But it is learnt that the present sponsors of East Bengal insisted the Red & Gold club officials to at least pick up the form of “invitation to bid”.
At the East Bengal tent, official Debabrata Sarkar said, “Yes, East Bengal to pick up ISL ‘Invitation to Bid’ documents tomorrow. Every step which we would be taking, will be a collective step by both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.” He added, “We will have a discussion with Kushal Das on the 22nd May. We have contracts with a lot of players and we will decide their future later on”
Mohun Bagan Secretary Anjan Mitra who came to the club today said that their arch rivals will send them a copy of the “invitation to bid” document. He told, “Yes, whatever the East Bengal officials are saying, is true and they will send us the copy of document to go through the matter. We will have an executive committee meeting soon. We are in no hurry. There is still enough time for us”. He also said, “It’s a serious matter and we want to take the decisions cautiously.”
@AKB: Churchill was prophetic: '“Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low caliber and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India."...The saying is apocryphal, authenticity doubted
Don't mention that bastard Churchill as prophetic. He had millions of Indians dead or suffered blood in his hands. IMGR and this AIFF mashup is hardly a big deal in daily life.
What will we achieve by dismantling SAFF region? AFC made SAFF because of some reason only.
The same forces which are not letting India organise Friendlies or SAFF Cup because their illegal league ISL will get disturbed will also make sure that India will not feature in any ASEAN event either. Kushal Das will come up with another theory.

All friendlies cancelled due to Ranking theory, visa theory. Many more theories will come up in future.
SAFF in the month of May? What about Super Cup then which was supposed to be played in May?
