@DX: My comment was in the context of AKB's comment that the Indian political class has perfected the art of the 'divide and rule' policy of the British, which it certainly has...as we all know, Churchill was very racist in his opinion of India...it was not only Churchill, but the entire British rule which caused untold misery to Indians (and is still doing so, because of the Partition and the tensions between India and Pakistan)...even if he had said that in order to belittle India, it has turned out to be true, as many Indians are saying today, because the policy of 'divide and rule' being played by politicians in India is wreaking havoc in our socio-political system...my point was not to applaud Churchill but to point out that one of the most disdainful features of British rule has become Indianized to an extent... whether you consider the IMGR and the AIFF mashup as a big deal in daily life is completely up to you...Cheers!
@munna219777 Kushal Days is on a holiday now....he is refreshing himself after hard(ly) working. We are going to miss that moron in the Federation Cup Final. Pappu will not be there as well at Cuttack, so only moron whom we can see at Cuttack on Sunday is SD...if he is not going on holidays. Friendlies get cancelled at the last moment but no problem here....AIFF is busy in practicing dances to the tune of Malkin. Bloody rogues.
I don't care about SAFF tournament.Pretty useless.
I too always opined that SAFF should be merged with ASEAN now given the fact that one of the best (Afghanistan) have already left.
People will use this as another stick to beat the ISL but ya, who cares about the SAFF Championship? It isn't even being cancelled, just moved, and honestly India should have been at the point where we send a u23 or u21 side to the tournament by now.
Also I sort of get it, IMG-Reliance is protecting their league... technically their job. The U17 World Cup means that we can't really break the league if it is going to be longer, we need a league from November to around April with no "winter break" other than maybe a week or something. SAFF Championship would go for a few weeks which means the best Indian players taken away which would harm ISL.
I agree cent percent...
We should send youth teams to the tournament.
This will ensure that our rankings are not affected.
But this again,is a short term solution.
We cannot be stuck in SAFF.
Yes, we cannot be stuck in SAFF. We need to compete in AFC Cup. We should use SAFF as a prep for Olympic qualifiers, 3 senior players with a bunch of U21s.
TATA to sponsor MB,both EB,MB to bid for ISL. thefangarage.com/articles/10778-kolkata-clubs-fall-in-line-with-isls-demands--east-bengal-mohun-bagan-decide-to-pick-up-bids
From sponsoring East Bengal to having own team in ISL, to building airport as well as Floodlights in Jamshedpur to now sponsoring Mohun Bagan. Tata is everywhere. They should focus on their internal Board fight which is going thru crucial phase in this month Ratan-Cyrus
Running a football club from scratch & that too in a Tier 2 city is not that easy. They could make a mess of it even though they are TATA. Sponsoring an established club with massive fanbase is much easier & cheaper.
