"... but something might change within the next few days,...": 'something', 'might change', aren't we assuming a lot in favour of ISL?
The structural deficiencies that are built in with ISL cannot be overhauled 'within the next few days'. And that deficiencies start with ownership of the league , goes on about club ownership pattern and audited balance sheets and so on. I don't think these are going to change within a few days, at least Nita Ambani has some individual ideas regarding those.
If, on the other hand you are implying that moneybags will talk and buy ISL legitimacy, then probably you are right. But then that will not be a good precedence, will it?
@kartik91 You are right. In that case 10.4.2, Extraordinary Application for BFC provided AIFF grant some division status to ISL. Till then uncertainity is there. Probably they will have to wait what AFC decides on 24th May.
By the way AFC Cup 2017 is going on and BFC has no problem. For 2018 AFC Cup, we got Aizawl FC and BFC (which is being discussed). Super Cup will determine 2019 participants I hope.
@Deb_Ban They have till at least late 2017, the next few days could be the start of something. I won't imply anything in favor of ISL since nothing is certain but to come on everyday with a reminder of how the league is unrecognized is annoying.
I don't think solid, reason-based opinions are not annoying. What is annoying is the cloak and dagger policy of IMGR. And even more annoying is AIFF's, or rather, Proful Patel's stance on the issue.
He is not coming straight. And he's neither defending his words or HIS league. He is harping on the I-league-is-official-ISL-is-just-a-tournament line, but the ground reality is ISL will have all the top clubs playing in it (barring Aizawl), they will have weekend evening spots whereas the 'top' I-league will be played on weekdays and probably at 4:00in the af'noon, ISL will have 100% TV coverage, against 75% at the max for I=league. I'm assuming the two will run simultaneously. He knows it all, he is not dumb (much as we like to believe).
PP will be party to the interests which killed (yes, past tense) I-league. And we all can guess why. Only nobody will know the exact amount for which he did it.
PP is also AFC Vice President. He will not utter anything which will contradict AFC and FIFA. Therefore he will have to stick with "I-league is official" standpoint. AIFF is powerless in front of Reliance Group. It is up to AFC to decide now on what Reliance wants.
I gain repeat you people are getting the news late. EB actually collected the bid doc after consulting the ruling party in Bengal and getting considerable assurance. MB is also a partner in the quest.
