but as per 2016 roadmap this super cup thing was already in place and I dont remember reading anywhere league1/2 teams need to pay anything, so whats the problem now?
No, the proposal is for both Cup finalists to have AFC irrespective of ISL /I league win. It's better to make it a single competition rather than 3 different competitions.
There's little AIFF can do now. There's now way ISL gonna get an AFC Cup spot only.
Super Cup/League will have to be conducted. SAFF Championship will likely see reserve players represent India or the tournament will be pushed to June.
"It has also been proposed that the prestigious Federation Cup be converted into the Super Cup, where 28 teams can participate with the winners and the runners-up qualifying for Asian club competitions."
Even Before that League 1/2 would run parallel with ISL and it was mentioned "League One will broadcast on the Star Network's sports channel bouquets and all matches will be streamed digitally. League Two will be broadcast digitally and possibly on regional channels as well."
SO what AIFF has proposed is same except I league's top status is not being taken away...
IMO its win win situation for all.. its amusing same person posted 2 such articles and made up lines "I-League would be an attractive property to invest, not the ISL or Brand Dilution for ISL"
