Big news coming out of Kolkata. EB MB have formally agreed to join the merged league as per Kushal Das. AIFF has been in talks with them for a while now. Kushal Das, though refusing to give a timeline, said 2017 season is the one they are targeting to launch the new league. Seems 3-4 I-League clubs will be included overall including the Kolkata giants.
Hunt came into MLS owning 2 teams, Columbus Crew and Kansas City Wizards. He eventually bought the Dallas Burn (now FC Dallas). Without him, as well as AEG and Robert Kraft, MLS would not exist today honestly or at least be this far.
AEG at one point owned the Chicago Fire, San Jose Earthquakes, the Metrostars (now the Red Bulls), DC United, Houston Dynamo, and the LA Galaxy. Kraft just owned the Revolution if I recall but still invested well for them and even allows them to use Gillet Stadium for free (guy owns the stadium, whatever) which back then worked but now... hell no. He is now a cheap ass owner.
AEG now only own the Galaxy while Hunt just owns FC Dallas (his son does). Everyone is sold, has there own stadium made only for soccer, their own brand, supporters, managements, youth academies... the works... amazing what has happened since 2003 when these three were the only owners... only been 13 years damn it!
My dream for India... of course the final part, not the messed up shit.
I'd stick to 'one team one owner' formula. MLS may be a superior league to emulate (@arsenalfan700 must be happy at this statement), but corrupt as our society is, there is every possibility for owners to take advantage of the situation of having multiple teams owned by same owners. And selected club owners getting into the Governing body. Those would be recipes to corruption, in our condition.
@Deb_Ban The league does not have any teams owned by more than one person anymore... every team is owned individually now and was only double-owned for a few years. I am not suggesting we do that but just mentioning that if it had to happen, it is not terrible.
That's what I said. Doubly owned teams would be bad for us. Nothing against MLS; if they can manage with double ownership, no issues, but for corrupt people like us, single ownership is a must.

FIFA regulations are fine with me.
I think 8 ISL teams + the top 4 teams in I-League this season should form the merged league ie First Tier (Total 12 teams)
Remaining I-League teams form the Second Tier (About 12 teams by promoting a few teams from existing second division)
And the current Second Division can be the Third Tier
Every season 2 teams getting promoted and 2 relegated should be the norm.
God.
