Delhi Dynamos F.C. embark to England and Sweden for Pre-Season
The Delhi Dynamos Football Club has planned an elaborate pre-season plan for the upcoming Hero Indian Super League which will see the team train and play matches in the England and Sweden.
The team leaves for England on Wednesday night, they will complete the first leg of their pre-season on the 3rd of September and then depart for Sweden. The Delhi Dynamos F.C. are hoping to not only assess their strengths and weaknesses against seasoned European clubs but also to fine-tune their strategies and sharpen the players’ fitness regime and skill-training at top facilities in England and Sweden.
The three-week long pre-season will see the pride get together for the first time this season, with Head Coach Gianluca Zambrotta and his support staff. Delhi Dynamos F.C. are scheduled to play four practice matches, including a high-profile friendly against the Premier League club West Bromwich Albion F.C.
The friendly charity match against West Bromwich Albion F.C. is scheduled to take place at the Hawthorns Stadium on the 3rd of September, at 3:00 PM GMT (7:30 PM IST) during the International break.
“The pre-season camp is the most critical time for a team. It will not only help the players to bond and build professional relationships but will also give them the opportunity to practice together and understand each other’s tactics and temperaments on the field.” Gianluca said.
“I am looking forward to the pre-season as I will be seeing most of the players in action for the first time and it will allow me to build on future formations. It will be encouraging for my fairly young squad to play against their European counterparts, and come back with an enriched experience which will definitely give us an edge of excellence for our season ahead.” he added.
Delhi Dynamos F.C. will be based in Birmingham during their England sojourn and will train at the University of Wolverhampton. They will play their first friendly against Kidderminster Harriers F.C. on the 30th of August. The club is a Worcestershire based club which plays in the National League North the sixth tier of English football. They will then shift to the training grounds of West Bromwich Albion F.C. at The Hawthorns Stadium.
Delhi Dynamos F.C. will depart for Sweden on September the 4th after their match against the Baggies.
The squad will play three more friendlies in Sweden, the first against Swedish giants B.K. Häcken, and the last friendly for the pride’s pre-season will be on the 14th of September.
“We are privileged to have great relations in the International world of football. I would like to thank our brothers from West Bromwich Albion and B.K. Häcken who have helped us with our pre-season in England and Sweden. Last year we had a great experience in Sweden & Denmark. While this year it is an action packed pre-season for the team and we intend to engage with our fans in Europe. I am sure the team will return to India with an enriched experience and will be ready to roar for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League.” Club President Prashant Agarwal said.
The team will be back in New Delhi on the 16th of September and will train in the capital for season 3 of the HISL.
The former Liverpool defender shall surely don the jersey for the Mahendra Singh Dhoni co-owned franchise despite ‘protests’ from another ISL franchise…
John Arne Riise favoured a move to Delhi Dynamos after signing a pre-contract with Kerala Blasters in the last edition of the Indian Super League (ISL). This scuppered the preparations of the Sachin Tendulkar co-owned franchise as coach Peter Taylor built his team keeping Riise in mind.
This time around, Riise has joined reigning ISL champions Chennaiyin FC as their marquee signing for the 2016-17 season.
According to a report, Delhi Dynamos, who now have GMS Shipping as their majority stakeholders, are unhappy with Riise’s decision to join the Abhishek Bachchan co-owned team. They claimed to have had a conditional termination of Riise’s contract in January this year wherein he wouldn’t return to play in India for any other ISL franchise.
However, following a move to Norway’s Aalesunds FC, Riise announced his retirement before deciding to pen a deal with Chennaiyin FC.
The Pride’s hopes to puncture the deal with Chennai went up in the air as the Norwegian FA issued an International Transfer Certificate (ITC), also sending a copy of the same to FIFA, which will allow Chennaiyin FC to officially register the former AS Roma defender on their roster.
“The ITC for Riise has arrived and he is now eligible to play for Chennaiyin FC,” informed an All India Football Federation (AIFF) official.
