Mohd. Ashique Kuruniyan is from Malappuram in Kerala. If he stops concentrating on taking selfies all day, I think he has a bright career ahead of him. I was impressed with him for the U19s.
Prshant Karuthadathkuni is winger but the likes of Kuruniyan and Mawihmingthanga etc were preferred over him.
These AIFF academies dont look anything better than the other i league academies, i seriously doubt he credential of their coaches. The salgaocar media report mentions Anthony Perreira as their coach ,is he the same Indian national team player ,shouldnt it be the Aiff who should have tapped him.
Ashlesh only this year afc qualifier is based on academy previously they used to select players from cub teams also . They have selected dsk players because aiff useing their facilities for free of cost. & inplace aiff Is promoting dsk players(u-19 team).and regarding afc u-16 team there is no league to select players from clubs. So they have selected academy boys. After afc qualifier they have started u-15 league
but this just proves the poor scouting network in the country or lack on interest from the body... its not like academy is producing the golden generation that they dont consider the rest..
This attitude from the body is what keeping us behind... hopefully the u17 is not the same as this one will show us to entire world on what are we made of and how good can we make use of this opportunity
Physique is important particularly when it is at a stage where the body is growing. That is the reason why the Nigerian and other African teams do well at the U17 to U21 levels, but once their body stops developing, the physique just becomes a secondary item, and it is not even technique that gets you into the best teams, but tactically how good you are and how good you can bee in a team. See how the African teams (and players) do on the international stage when compared to the Spanish, the Dutch or even the Japanese or the South Americans.
Individually if you have good technique and have individual physical attributes like pace or strength, that helps of course but that is not even close the main thing at international level. I don't need to bring the example of Messi or Cazorla or even a Coutinho or Lallana to tell you that physique doesn't matter, and you are truly mistaken if you think physical strength is the main characteristic that guides your career at international level @Ashlesh.
As for the boys who participated in the tours to Germany, Spain, in the AFC U16 Qualification, I think you will find that most of them WILL stay together and only a handful will get into the final squad from the newly scouted boys because the first batch has experience of staying together and playing together, and that experience is valuable and cannot be replicated regardless of the time you spend at the Dempo, BFC or AIFF academy.
The match between salgaocar and aiff was evenly contested. The winner of that match would have achieved top spot in the group, though salg are in top spot with better goal difference. Anthony pereira ( salg legend ) is the manager of the salg U-18 setup. Most of thr players are goans. Anthony pereira still has best fitness to play football and plays for Panjim veterans. Was having chat with some other salg players, they trains at BITS PILANI. Everybody in the setup, speaks highly about the salg capt, Daniel. Though he is not gifted with immense pace, but has great understanding in controlling the tempo of the match.
