He really has been great. The fans love him and he has been a great mentor for the young players. Would love him back but as a marquee? Lets be honest, on paper, Postiga was better. We did not know what would happen, would happen.
One match played and remained out of the tournament with a smirk in his face <<<<<<< to Garcia who played almost all matches and instrumental to win ATK the cup.
ATLETICO DE KOLKATA have begun the process of launching a football academy in Kolkata that will begin its operations with 30 children selected from all over West Bengal.
According to a report published in Ananda Bazar Patrika, the ISL franchise has called for preliminary trials for selection in the academy. 12 to 14 year old kids have been called to the open trials, the first of which is being held at Bidhan Nagar Sports Complex for the residents of Kolkata and its surroundings.
Afterwards, there will be trials held for kids from all 20 districts of West Bengal. The most promising children will be hand-picked from there for a final round of trials. In the end 30 children will be selected for the academy.
ATK are the first among the ISL franchises to take concrete steps towards setting up an academy. Last year they also became the first ISL franchise to have a temporary junior team when they fielded a squad in the 3rd Division of the Calcutta Football League.
This initiative is being seen as the first steps towards qualifying for an AFC A-license, so as to be eligible to play in the official top division league when I-League and ISL are eventually merged
They are serious..The owners are also pretty realistic about their return on investment...And anyone who says they dont have a fan base is very wrong..In a merged league even i am sure Kolkata can sustain 3 teams

this academy news of ATK is very old...it came few weeks back on ABP. Anyways, the player selections had started from mid january. They have been uploading 100s of pics of practise sessions almost everyday ontheir FB page. They look much more serious than last year regarding this, And all of this is taking place under a big banner stating " supported by RP-Sanjeev Goenka group ". So all those management quitting rumours are baseless as well

This is what stood out the most for me. I know a lot of people do not like Nita Ambani and IMG-Reliance and how they run the league but this just proves that it is not just about them but also the individual owners of the ISL teams. They understand the need for a proper football league in this country and are doing what is needed, from the looks of it, to achieve that.
